LET’S TALK ABOUT A FEW FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES FIRST.
WE’VE GOT ANSWERS.
We’re talking about your future—and that deserves careful consideration and discussion with a partner willing to listen. We’ve given this a lot of thought and are happy to share our understanding and experiences with you.
Digital cinema is here. So, let’s talk. Let’s figure out how we can make your decisions clearer and your transition easier. Let’s see how we can tailor a KODAK Digital Cinema Solution to fit into your operations—and your future.
IN MORE WAYS THAN YOU MIGHT IMAGINE.
“I’M IN THE BUSINESS OF KEEPING MY THEATRE FULL AND MY AUDIENCES HAPPY. HOW CAN DIGITAL HELP ME DO THAT?”
It can let you play a fuller range of content. Bring new impact to your advertisers. Delight your audiences. Use your staff more productively. Create new sources of revenue. Automate isolated functions. Reduce redundancies. Provide more peace of mind. And let you explore additional opportunities that you’ll find as you become more experienced with digital technology. The KODAK Digital Cinema Solution makes it all possible, and simple. The Kodak System handles a full range of content: from 3D JPEG features to 2D MPEG documentaries and everything in between. Plus, alternative events and targeted pre-shows. You can play all content—the right mix of entertainment—for your audience.
And, so much can be automated. Digital content and keys can be centrally loaded, migrated, and scheduled automatically—directed by your ticketing/point-of-sale system. Curtains can open, lights can dim, masking can change, projectors can start and stop, all seamlessly, consistently. From your office, you can have an overview, via your desktop computer, of what’s playing on which screen. The KODAK Digital Cinema Solution is designed to help you be right where you need to be: in control of your business.
THAT DEPENDS.
“SOUNDS COMPLEX. HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?”
Standalone digital systems can be complex because everything is handled separately. The digital print— with trailers—arrives from the digital depot, on a hard drive or via satellite. The decryption keys come in from the Network Operations Center (NOC). In the cinema, content and keys are matched and ingested into content players. Additional trailers and pre-show programming—arriving separately—are also loaded. The KODAK Solution makes everything more automated. And more manageable. Kodak provides a full solution—networked hardware, software, service, and support—all under the control of the KODAK Theatre Management System (TMS).
The Kodak TMS is designed to be a control center for your cinema. It takes direction from your ticketing/pos system. And it provides operational efficiencies, incremental pre-show opportunities, and the ability to program your screens more flexibly—with 2D or 3D content. Digital content and keys are received, loaded, and stored— automatically—waiting for instructions from your ticketing system. Once the schedule is loaded, the TMS migrates, stages, schedules, and plays the full presentation—including the pre-show— on the right screens, at the right times. And the entire network can be backed by service and support from Kodak.
THE SOONER YOU START, THE SOONER YOU START LEARNING. Major studios and other distributors are releasing most movies digitally. Alternative cinema entertainment is growing in diversity and availability. Several major suppliers are producing digital cinema pre-shows. So, content is available.
“THIS IS HARDLY AN EASY DECISION. HOW QUICKLY DO I NEED TO DECIDE ABOUT SWITCHING TO DIGITAL?”
If you start by converting at least half the screens in any complex, you’ll have the flexibility to move digital prints as you move film today. And, if you start with Kodak, you’ll have a system to grow with as your needs expand. Kodak has taken a “building block” approach, designing its system from the ground up, proving every step before moving on. Today, Kodak offers
a full solution for a full presentation—pre-show, trailers, features, alternative content—now in use on screens in the world marketplace. And because the KODAK Solution is networked and driven by the KODAK Theatre Management System, it provides efficiencies and connectivity that aren’t possible with standalone alternatives. If your concern is obsolescence, consider this: the KODAK System is software-based; updates can be provided easily and even loaded automatically. There may be no right time to start, but there is a right company to start with: Kodak.
WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER.
“I’LL HAVE TO FILL A LOT OF SEATS TO PAY FOR THIS. WHO WILL HELP?”
Let’s be honest: Payback should be shared among exhibitors, studios, and others, including everyone who benefits from use of the system.
n
The digital pre-show capability included with the KODAK Solution provides new sources of added revenue you can use for system payback
But if you’re simply replacing your analog system with its standalone digital counterpart, without rethinking your business, you’re limiting your savings and sources of new revenue.
n
And the options Kodak offers for service and support—everything from full maintenance and parts to system monitoring and diagnosis to training—enable you to maintain uptime while controlling your costs
Talk to Kodak about how you can—and should—be thinking differently. If you invest in a KODAK Digital Cinema Solution, you have far more options. Because, with Kodak, digital is not just an investment, it’s an opportunity for more profitable operations. n
The KODAK Theatre Management System, which drives the KODAK Solution, provides automation and connectivity so you can use your staff more efficiently
Kodak offers a turnkey solution with everything included. All at a price you can live with. With no surprises, and no addtional charges.
WE’LL NOT ONLY STAND BEHIND YOU, WE’LL PROUDLY STAND WITH YOU.
“HOW DO I KNOW YOU WILL STAND BEHIND ME TODAY, TOMORROW, TEN YEARS FROM NOW?”
Digital cinema is an evolution. And like any evolution, it’s not just about what is different, but also what remains the same. And what remains are the values of the cinema experience. Quality. Consistency. Dependability. Innovation. All delivered with exceptional customer service.
Because we know this is not just about technology, it’s about a full solution that fits your operations today—and tomorrow. It’s about developing a relationship that provides peace of mind. It’s about recognizing this is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. And no one is able to go it alone.
We share those values. Kodak has been involved with virtually every major innovation in the motion picture industry. We take pride in our ability to listen and the capability we have to respond.
KODAK Digital Cinema would love to be your partner for the evolution. Learning, responding in ways that meet your growing business needs. Today—and for the future.
Our solutions are software-driven. Updateable. Proven in cinemas around the world, under realworld conditions. And evolving.
WE’RE HERE TO CONTINUE THE DIALOG.
