As the skills shortage is showing no sign of slowing down, it can still be very difficult to find the right talent in the current market. As a result, there is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals who can navigate the complexities of the Supply Chain. However, finding the right talent for the job can be a daunting task for many organisations, writes Ian Green, Director of Supply Chain Recruitment.
As Founder of GRN Search Group, I have been involved in recruitment from all angles, as a Hiring Manager, Candidate & Recruiter. My experiences were sub-standard and it was clear to me that the Client & Candidate experiences needed to be better. Recruiting the right talent for supply chain roles is not an easy task. The field is complex and it requires candidates who have a unique blend of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. The first challenge that organisations face is identifying the right talent for the job. Many times, businesses receive numerous applications from candidates who do not have the required skills or experience. This can be a time-consuming process that can lead to frustration. Another challenge to consider is the shortage of Supply Chain talent. With the increasing demand, there is a shortage of candidates who have the required skills and experience. This has led to a highly competitive job market where employers have to offer attractive compensation packages to attract top talent. Finally, supply chain recruitment is a highly specialised field and it requires Recruiters who have a deep understanding of the industry. Many recruiters lack the expertise required to identify the right talent for the job, leading to a mismatch between the job requirements and the candidate’s skills and experience and overall experience for employer and candidate.
