Continual innovation combined with manufacturing excellence has always been the cornerstone of Macpac’s growth and now the company has launched the Maclifter, a range of standalone bin lifts that can be fitted to a vast variety of bodies from 5 tonne to 32 tonne and including trailers. Pictures here show a recently supplied sidemounted Maclifter on a 40-foot aluminium trailer. “We saw a market need for a reliable, versatile lifter application and have developed and launched the Maclifter to meet that need,” said Drew Stewart, managing director of Macpac Refuse Bodies. The range covers the lifting of all types of wheeled bins and is suitable for all categories of waste collection. The versatile system can not only be bolted onto steel bodies but also plastic and alloy bodies. The double trade lifters are capable of lifting a 500Kg safe working load, all rams are fitted with anti-burst values and also have safety overload protection built in. Indeed, this system has various safety and operational benefits.

An in-travel height warning device ensures the lifting device is stowed correctly before travelling. Each bin lift is fitted with an emergency stop system in line with current standards. Anti-shake systems minimise operator abuse, and all electrical equipment is fully rated to IP67. The lifters have a fully enclosed lid which reduces spillage while travelling, contains the load, reduces interference from wildlife and contains any waste odours. The range features a twospeed lift for the loading of heavy bins and Wander lead controls to assist a single operator with bin loading and to allow the emptying of a container from a safe distance. “For customers utilising payby-weight collections, the bin lifts are also weighing system ready,” continued Drew, “meaning a bin weighing system can be supplied with the lifter or retrofitted at a later date.”

The Maclifter adds a new dimension to Macpac Refuse Bodies’ product range: the Mactip range, which goes from 9m3 to 32m3, a versatile tipping, non-compaction refuse collection vehicle and the Macpac Compaction Body range from 6.5m3 to 11m3 Macpac Refuse Bodies has been building refuse collection vehicles in Antrim since 2005.
