DIGGER GUARD®, a leading manufacturer of protective products for the construction machinery industry breaks new ground with innovative improvements to its patent-pending polymer handrails.
DIGGER GUARD®’s new “dry-fit” handrail design features an internal mechanical connecting system that dispenses with the need for messy adhesive or externally fixed clamshell connectors. The result is a continuous sleek and modern rail that can be fitted more quickly and cleanly. The new design also means single component parts of the rails can easily be replaced instead of larger sections saving cost and downtime. These new innovations build on the established benefits of DIGGER GUARD®’s polymer handrails which are non-corrosive and 75% lighter than steel systems. Existing systems provide equivalent strength and superior durability over steel systems thanks to a patent-protected design that dampens vibration fatigue to limit failure points. They also don’t interfere with 3D guidance systems, which is a known problem with metal rails.
“We wanted to go beyond simply solving the problems and costs inherently associated with steel alternatives. Our designers ambitiously wanted to reinvent the physical appearance of handrail systems while retaining strength and making the fitting process cleaner and easier,” said Andy Leaver, Director of Product Development at DIGGER GUARD®
“We’ve built on the successful foundations of our existing innovations and believe our new design improvements will take handrails for heavy machines to the next level,” Andy continued: “This new design is the result of intensive research and development, and we believe it will revolutionize the way handrails are traditionally viewed across the industry.”
DIGGER GUARD® has also achieved earlystage success with its patented Vandal Guard product – a lightweight, intuitive hang-andlock cab and window protection system that uses the front guard as the lid for a secure rooftop watertight storage box. Both Vandal Guards and handrail products have been tested with positive feedback from customer and end-user operators alike. Excavator driver Matt Lundy commented: “It’s apparent to me that DIGGER GUARD® is making quality equipment for our machines that solve problems I’ve experienced in the past. As someone who works in the construction industry, I know the importance of safety and security on a job and their protective products have exceeded my expectations.”
