The Journal from Jan Newsome
Jan recently returned from Dallas visiting Ann Strother, whom we featured in the 2023 holiday issue of Mountain Time in the Smokys. The pair got to celebrate Jan’s birthday and Jan explored the 66-acre Dallas Arboretum where they have stunning 200 feet tall Magnolia trees that line walkways. Check out Jan below in front of the beautiful wall of flowers.
Back home in Connestee Falls, Jan captured a few snapshots of her furry neighbors. Out here, you don’t have to venture into a national or state park to experience wildlife up close and personal!

“My clients had been looking for the perfect home for a while and finally found the sweet spot! Congrats Jim & Debbie on the purchase of your new home. You both deserve this beautiful home and worked so hard to get here! Welcome to Bryson City and we're happy to have you as our neighbors!” ~ Anette
The Bryson City Chamber of Commerce hosts an Art Walk every 3rd Thursday of the month. Check out the video below and meet Brian Cooley, a talented woodworker featured at one of the recent walks!
The Scoop from Jay Spiro
Jay joined fellow Rotarians for an Island Beautification Workday in Sylva! This is an ongoing project for the Rotary Club of Sylva through which they care for the extensive shrubs and flower beds that beautify traffic islands at Jackson County's busiest intersection (the corner of Business U.S. 23 and N.C. 107 in Sylva). #PeopleOfAction

A visit to the Highlands
Hope's family recently came up from Texas to visit for a week. On this day, she took the girls to visit the quaint town of Highlands, NC. They visited Dry Falls, ate lunch in the courtyard of Old Edwards Inn and Spa and of course visited all the local book stores and dress shops!
