Green Energy for Green Companies

GR.ENE.CO Priority 2

Promotion of environmental sustainability at the basin level

Measure 2.2

Promotion of renewable energy use and improvement of energy efficiency contributing to addressing, among other challenges, climate change

Project in brief The problem of massive emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the burning of fossil fuels and related climatic impact have become major environmental, scientific and institutional issues worldwide. Long-term sustainability of the atmosphere requires a drastic decrease in CO2 emissions and an efficient energy strategy. Against growing energy consumption in the Mediterranean area, GR.ENE.CO project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to improve energy efficiency by adopting renewable energy as main power source at farm level. This will be reached through the implementation of several forms of renewable energy - biofuel, biomass, solar, wind and hydro power - in farms settled in the involved target areas: Sarcidano and Barbagia of Seulo (Italy), South Lebanon, Al Iskandanyah and Al Buhayrah territories (Egypt).

Beneficiary LAG Sarcidano and Barbagia of Seulo (Italy, Sardegna)

Partnership 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

University of Alexandria (Egypt, Al Iskandanyah) Beirut Arab University (Lebanon) Ministry of Agriculture (Lebanon) Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce (Italy, Lazio) Chamber of Commerce of Nuoro (Italy, Sardegna) Tecnomarche scarl - Scientific and Technology Park of Marche Region (Italy, Marche) ITABIA - Italian Biomass Association (Italy, Lazio) IPSAR - Vocational School for agricultural and rural development (Italy, Sardegna) Sardinian Forest Institute (Italy, Sardegna)
