Dear TGO Community, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! This year it feels as if we moved from hurricane season straight into holiday season. The beautiful decorations throughout TGO should put us all into the Holiday spirit. I extend a big Thank You to our Beautification’s Committee for their efforts to decorate TGO again for the holidays. This is my favorite time of year and I especially enjoy the beautiful lights and decorations hung on your homes as I travel through the community. The best thing about the holiday season is knowing that our TGO community unites to celebrate our many holiday traditions such as the TGOCC Christmas Cantata, the Christmas Golf Cart Parade, and Christmas De-Lights on Twin Lakes Drive. Evenings on Twin Lakes and Fairways Drive are so much fun this time of year.

CSA is conducting ‘critter control’ on select evenings and early mornings. Most of our efforts are focused where our TGO-owned conservation areas border our golf course property along golf course hole #9 - #10. Two senior CSA employees have been designated to perform this work. They are focused now on removing the wild hogs that are rooting and destroying turf throughout our community, in backyards and especially along the perimeter of our golf course fairways and greens. If you have any questions or concerns about hogs, please call me at the CSA office.

Improvement projects continue throughout our community; some were just completed this week. At the request of our community safety committee, the buildings team added two stop signs this week at the exits from The Manor and Blue Heron onto Hospitality Way. Our grounds team removed a wooden bridge on Hole #16 that was damaged during the hurricane and replaced it with a land-bridge. Jordan and Shane were finally able to restore power to our irrigation pump after some hurricane damage, and our pump is serving our golf course and community again.

We again find ourselves with some key vacancies at Blue Heron Restaurant. I’ve been spending much of my time there these past weeks, supporting the staff’s extra efforts and greeting our guests. Beth Garrison is our long-time bartender, and she has stepped up into an acting manager role while I search for a new food and beverage manager. Line cook Matt Neely has stepped up as Lead Cook. Both are doing a stellar job of operating the restaurant and performing the many holiday parties this time of year. We have not missed a beat, we continue to operate seven days a week, 13 hours day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you see Beth or Matt, please encourage their extra efforts and leadership.

Spending time at Blue Heron has allowed me to see how our community has a different kind of relationship with our restaurant staff, not a typical, static transactional relationship like in most restaurants, but one where our diners come often and treat the staff like family. We offer a great place to work, with appreciative customers and competitive wages. Skilled restaurant employees are very hard to find right now; they come and go quickly for many different reasons. As I talk to other restaurant owners and operators locally, they are experiencing the same challenges, and some are forced to reduce their operating hours. Thank you for your patience with our Blue Heron team as there may be peak times when your food will take extra time to prepare. I will continue to work hard to find the right people to lead our Blue Heron. Our Blue Heron Service Promise to you is “Serving Fresh, High-Quality Food with Friendliness and Pride.” Our team is trained to meet this promise every day.

I wish the happiest of holidays to you all. Sincerely,

Billy Specht CSA Manager
