Know the Rules About Campfires within TGO

I. Definitions of Campfires a. Open Fire: is a fire using wood, compressed logs, or other combustible material whether the fire is on the ground, in a “fire pit,” or in some other enclosure (e.g. a chimenea), and which may or may not be surrounded by a fire ring, and may or may not have a screened enclosure or cover. b. Gas Fire: a fire which uses propane or similar fuel and which is fully contained in a fire pit or similar enclosure (either permanent or portable) and which does not emit sparks or embers. II. Rule on Open Fires in TGO. Due to the high fire danger in and around TGO, open fires are not allowed anywhere within TGO at any time. Owners who permit such a fire on their parcel or on any of the common properties of TGO are subject to a fine of $500. III. Rule on Gas Fires in TGO. Gas fires are not permitted at any time on an owner’s parcel. Gas fires are not permitted on any of the common properties of TGO. IV. General Rule on Cooking Fires: Cooking fires (e.g. charcoal fires, smoker fires) which use charcoal briquettes, seasoned wood, or similar fuels, and are contained in a suitable controlled vessel (charcoal grill; smoker) are not considered “campfires” and are not intended to be addressed by the rule on campfires. Not sure about the rule - Ask before you light it!
