Introduction Have you ever wondered how the middle colonies survived and what they ate or how they dressed, this book will tell you all about that. It will tell you what food they ate how they farmed and a lot of other things that the Middle Colonies did.
Population Fertile grounds are just enough to grow crops middle region had them all. Because it was always growing season they are very rich! Middle colonies grew wheat grains and rice. Breed was called breadbaskets. They grew wheat, grains, and many other things. Also, they grew so much wheat and grain for bread that the Middle Colonies were known as the “breadbasket� of the thirteen colonies.

These are about the animals in the colonial times. Ones kept on the farm are called heritage breed and present animal in the late Virginia. They were made by the particular characteristics by the late Virginia. Some certain animals were not named. Now we name all the animals but they are way different from what they were in colonist times.
Location This is about the location of the Middle colonies. Middle colonies are in the northeastern part of U.S.A. Guess were the richest soil was; yes in the middle colonies. Inside the middle colonies were the states we all know as New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Daily Life Crops The Middle Colonies were known to be the breadbasket of all the other colonies because the amount of crops the middle colonies could grow. They grew wheat, barley, oats, rye, and also corn, but even though they grew wheat, barley, oats, ryes and corn, they loved to grow wheat the most. The middle colonies grew so much wheat so that is why they were named to breadbaskets. Â
Farm Animals In colonies, people have farm animals. People insisted that every family member would contribute in anyway. Farming in the middle colonies were really hard and difficult. Men and boys clear trees, work the ground, and plant crops. In winter they repair damaged tools. But the woman and girls would have to cook and also preserve food after harvesting. Children only work when they are old enough to work. Horses in the middle colonies help to plow the land and so the farmers can grow their crops.
Benjamin Franklin Ben Franklin was born in January 17, 1706. He worked in his brother’s printing shop and was very rich because he created the printing press. The printing press could print books and newspapers and so it was very helpful for all people and was way easier to print than to type up everything. He also invented the lightning rod, which helps protect houses from burning and also protects some innocent people being electrocuted. By making the lightning rod, the rod has saved many people and is really useful for all people. And because Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod, people were much, much safer.
Daily Life
Jobs The jobs back then were famers, tailors, glass blowers, silversmiths, brick makers and lots of other jobs. Farmers had an important job in the colonial times. The farmers provide sources of food to the people. Just about all colonies needed farmers. The main items for the farmers in this area were types of grains, meats and some corn. The middle colonies had a mild climate, rich soil and a long growing season. The rest of those jobs are important too!
Education Kids didn’t go to school, instead, they were usually homeschooled. They learned how to read and write. The 1700s finally built schools. They wrote on slates or birch bark sheets. Some of the girls had tutors and they learned to play musical
Entertainment Kids played tag, hopscotch, ninepins and lacrosse. They also played lots of different outdoor games. Like rolling the hoop. You use a metal hoop and a flat stick. Then you roll the hoop by using the stick to push it. It was a fun and popular game.

The Region Soil and Vegetation In the middle colonies for vegetation they mostly had corn, corn, corn, corn because that was what they had most, so they roasted it baked it and made it into corn cake and corn pudding. They counted on corn because they always had it. They also had squash, tobacco, and pumkin and also had a lot of wheat they had Barly, Oats, Rye, and corn. The indians showed them how to take maple sap from the maple trees to make there food sweater and taster. The middle colonies had rich soil so they were able to have long growing seasons and so they could grow cash crops raise them and sell them for money. There wasent so many grocerys in the middle colonies so it was hard to find food. One of there main industries, consequently was agriculture as they grew fruit seeds, vegetables, and above all grain. The fruit seeds that they planted were beans they made it into mush or porridge but when they made it into porrige it was cold. In fact that the middle colonies grew so much grain they became known as the “Breadbasket Colonies�
Weather And Climate the middle Colonies were what is now New York Pennsylvania, Delaware,and New Jersey. The Weather in the Middle Colonies was warmmer then in the new England colonies But they stiil had Cold winters. The soil was also very good because it was hot there so the plants grew very well. In the middle colonies the climate was 80 deggres or above. When it was that hot it usaly got Humid and hot so the farm was good. There was very good climate in the Middle colonies. By this weather it heleped the soil and helped the farmers so they can sell extra plants for more money. Even the Middle colonies had good soil, farming was not the only way to make money in the Middle Colonies. The weather was Perfect weather mostly.
Basic Needs Tool There were two kinds of axes in the colonial days the felling ax and the broad ax. Each Ax had a different job. The felling was more used to cut off limbs, branches, or to chop down trees. The broad ax was usually used for hewing. The most ancient tools were the chisels and gorges. They were used to shape the wood. They were in fact even better then axes at shaping parts and cutting joints then axes. Usually cutting away dovetails or paring small bits of wood used the bench chisel.
Food In the middle colonies ate different form us for breakfast they ate mostly ate porridge and bread. The middle colonies families like scrapple pudding made by pork and cornmeal. The poor people in the middle colonies ate corn mush and molasses. The middle colonies farmed a lot. They had good soil so they could farm. Good soil helped farming a lot. Farmers are able to sell their extras for money, but they did not make as much money as the Southern colonies could. Farming was not the main way to make money.

In the colonies no one really bought clothes. Instead they would make them. Everyone in the family had a role in making the clothes. At that time they used plants as a dye for the clothes. Everybody wore bright colored clothes and the men and women wore different things as well.
Houses Houses in the colonial days weren't big, and they certainty were not warm in the winter. To make the house warm, they
house! At that time most houses started with just one room, and that room was called the keeping room. You would eat, cook, and work there. The adults and babies would sleep in the keeping room as well, and the older kids would sleep in the attic. When more babies were born, more rooms were made. But even if they have more rooms, they still used the keeping room to work, eat, cook, and sleep.
