Catch the Fun at 2022 High Falls Winterfest
CRIVITZ – There’s going to be plenty of action both under and above the ice come Saturday, Feb. 12 when the Twin Bridge Waterski Team hosts the 47th annual High Falls Fish-O-Rama, Winterfest & Radar Runs. Activities will be held on High Falls Flowage just off Boat Landing 3 Road, 12 miles northwest of Crivitz. There will be a heated tent on the ice where you can grab food and refreshments and partially empty the wallet for some raffle tickets and the 50/50 raffle. Sledders can also reach the park off Iron Snowshoe Recreational Trail.
Registration for racers begins at 9 a.m. Runs go from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 800-foot track. Trophies, sponsored by Rene’s Dining Room, will be awarded for top speeds in all classes, including non-studded, studded, stock, modified, and antique snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATV and UTV. You will need to register in advance to enter the fishing contest. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. For more information, contact Popp’s Resort, info@poppsresort.com or call 757-3511.
Shoot on Over to Chute’s ‘Blast from the Past’
MOUNTAIN -- The Chute Pond Snowmobile Club invites sledders to discover the 100 miles and more of scenic snowmobile trails they keep groomed in Oconto County. As a bonus, they are hosting their annual “Blast from the Past” vintage snowmobile event set for Friday and Saturday, March 4-5. Group vintage and non-vintage riders will take off at 11 a.m. Friday from Waters Edge on Anderson Lake, 12058 Hwy. 32, Suring. In addition, there will be bucket raffles and dinner at Waters Edge. Advanced registration required: call Deb at 920373-8578.
Then on Saturday take in the vintage show and swap meet at Skinny Dave’s, 12848 Hwy. 32/64, Mountain. There’s no cost to enter your sled. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with judging done by 12:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available at Skinny Dave’s. There’s a meat raffle, bucket raffles, kids prizes, and a vintage sled raffle drawing for a 1983 John Deere Sprintfire. Call Kevin for more details at 920-373-8579. The club’s trails connect to the Gillett trail system to the south, Bagley-Brazeau to the southeast, Iron Snowshoe to the northeast, Lakewood Paul Bunyan to the north, Red Arrow Townsend to the northwest, and Boulder Lake trails to the southwest. If you haven’t got the map out, that means you can glide over awesome trails that radiate out from Mountain over into Langlade, Forest and Marinette counties, and elsewhere. When snow conditions allow, you can ride to and from the Chute Pond area from the south from the Brown and Shawano County area, using the Corridor 7 Nicolet State Trail. From Chute Pond, you can ride west to Langlade and Lincoln counties, east to Silver Cliff, Athelstane, and Crivitz in Marinette County. To the north, the opportunities are endless -- with trails connecting to Forest, northern Marinette, Florence, Oneida, Vilas counties and more. It’s an easy ride up the Corridor 7 Nicolet State Trail to the Michigan border, too.
