Get Hooked on Ice Fishing

You can’t beat ice fishing in Phelps! Many of our larger lakes have resorts and restaurants right on the shore that welcome fishermen and families year-round. You can find great views and great fishing activity on North Twin Lake, South Twin Lake, Big Sand Lake, Long Lake, Lac Vieux Desert, and Smoky Lake, to name a few.

Phelps is home to two ice fishing tournaments every year, one on Big Sand Lake and one on North Twin Lake. These tournaments are a fun way to get out on the ice and get to know your fellow fishermen better, or if you are new to ice fishing and just want to give it a try come to Phelps the third weekend in January. This is Wisconsin’s free ice fishing weekend every year with no license required!
