Purpose The Purpose of this presentation is to….  Help the world  To teach people how to take care of the environment  To teach you that you don´t have to pollute the air.  To do things right.

What is air pollution? ď‚—

ď‚—

Pollution is when the air gets dirty because of natural pollution or people pollution. Natural pollution can be for example Erupting volcanoes, forest fires, ash, gases, etc.

What is people pollution? People pollution is when the air or water gets dirty because of things that people do every day. ď‚— For example: when the cars send smoke, when you turn on a light or when you turn up a heat, you are polluting the air. ď‚—

What are fossil fuels? 

Fossil fuels are: coal, oil or gases that heat your home. Fossil fuels are made of the fossilized remains of living things that died millions of years ago. Today they give us most of the world’s energy.

Polluting gases: Characteristics ďƒ˜

Carbon monoxide: Its a polluted gas which is very bad for the body, and if you breath it you can die immediately.

ďƒ˜

Chemicals mixed with water: They are very dangerous when they came down to the ground with rain or snow because animals or people consume the polluted water.

Acid rain ďƒ˜

Acid rain pollutes the air because when the water evaporates, the water vapor goes into the atmosphere together with gases from factories, fumes from cars and aerosols. In the atmosphere they mix up and when they condense, the water vapor gets dirty forming dirty clouds. So when hot air mixes with cold air it rains and this rain is contaminated because it comes from polluted clouds. Therefore, this rain contaminates the lakes and oceans, so fish die. It also kills trees so birds and insects don't have homes and they die.

What is the smog? ďƒ˜

The SMOG is formed when pollution from cars and factories mix with oxygen and sun light.

ďƒ˜

The problem with it is that it gets hard for people to breathe.

The two types of ozone. 

Natural ozone in Earth’s atmosphere: Its a good thing, it acts like a sunscreen and filters out the sun rays.

Ozone formed at ground level: its a type of air pollution, chemicals called CFCs that are used in refrigerators, air conditioners, and some cleaners form this type of ozone which destroys the natural ozone.

What is happening to the ozone layer? ďƒ˜

CONSEQUENCES: The ozone layer has holes in the North and South Poles, because the air conditioners, chemicals called CFC's and cleaners are destroying the layers.

ďƒ˜

The consequence is that the UV rays can damage the skin.

Greenhouse Effect ďƒ˜

Greenhouse effect is when the rays of the sun enter to the planet. Sometimes the rays bounce against the ozone layer and get lost in the universe. When the rays of the sun enter to the planet, they are trapped by the smoke of the cars, the smog from the factories and the chemicals, making the temperature of the planet increase.

What are the consequences of air pollution? The consequences of air pollution are: 

 

 

Airborne pollutants can make breathing difficult and can cause diseases like cancer. Smog brings breathing problems. Air pollution causes acid rain, and it pollutes the ground, the air, and the water. Air pollution destroys the protective ozone layer. Air pollution may also cause climate changes all over the world.

Pollutants Effects  

Airborne pollutants: They can cause breathing difficulties Carbon monoxide: If you breathe carbon monoxide, you can die. Smog: Smog contaminates the air and people can have breathing problems.

Acid Rain: Acid rain kills trees, so birds and insects don’t have home and die. Acid rain also pollutes the air.

How we can stop polluting the air?          

Stop building factories Don’t use cars Use a bike Don't use motorbikes. Don’t turn on the light when you are not using. Don´t cut down trees. Don't throw the rubbish to the street. Recycle glass, steel, paper, plastic, and aluminum Donate old clothes and toys to charity. Plant trees and flowers because they are natural air cleaners.

Conclusions The conclusions are:  Air pollution does not only occur because of factories and cars.  There is a ozone at ground level that “eats” the natural ozone layer.  The processes of acid rain and the greenhouse effect also cause problems to the environment.
