Welcome to our home away from home! In short, I’m very passionate about South Dakota, and my husband, John, and I have been publishing 605 Magazine since 2009. This magazine and brand celebrates everything happening in our state and the incredible people behind it. We hope your experience here will bring memories that you’ll never forget and you enjoy it just as much as we do. Happy exploring!

Welcome! We bought this land and built this modern cabin with the idea of being very secluded, but also to have good access to modern amenities. The Wi-Fi is good, the hot tub is hot, the fireplace glows, and the trees go on for as far as you can see. That checks all the boxes for me.

To assure your full deposit return, please abide by these house rules:

» No Smoking or pets allowed inside at any time.

» Please remove shoes when entering home.

» Never leave fireplace unattended.

» No open fires or fireworks allowed.

» Nothing is put in toilets except toilet paper.

» No alcohol or food in any bedrooms.

» Garbage is required to be in trash bags.

» Respect the local artwork.

» Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. each day.

» Where applicable, Guest agrees to comply with attached Hot Tub Rules (page 3).

Upon Departure:

» Dishes need to be clean and put away in cabinets.

» Used appliances must be cleaned.

» Please place used sheets and towels in laundry area.

» Leave comforters and blankets in bedrooms.

» Place garbage in outside garbage containers located in the driveway near the road.

» Close valve on BBQ grill.

» Turn heat to low (55 degrees). Do not turn heat off.

» Make sure all doors and windows are locked.

» Return key to lock box or follow other specific instructions.

» Must pick up all cigarette butts.

» Turn off all lights.

Hot Tub Safety Rules

» Always shower before and after entering hot tub.

» Please remove lotions before entering hot tub.

» No glass containers in or around hot tub.

» Please limit time to no more than 15 minutes.

» Keep head above water at all times.

» Do not use if you are pregnant.

» Do not drink alcohol before or while you are in hot tub.

» When hot tub is not in use, please place cover back on unit.

» Fee of $75 will be charged if hot tub needs drained and refilled after your stay.

» Use hot tub at your own risk.

» Owner and Black Hills Adventure Lodging are not responsible for accidents that occur from use of the hot tub.

Fireplace Tips

» The top lever needs to be to the right, and the left lever needs to be to the top for the fireplace to work properly.

» Please do not move these from this position and check to make sure they are in place.

» Owner and Black Hills Adventure Lodging are not responsible for accidents that occur from use of the fireplace.

Grill Tips

» Please turn on gas cut-off timer in the waterproof box to the left of the grill to 60 minutes.

» Then once timer is set, proceed to turn on the grill like normal.

BLACKBIRD ESPRESSO

Grab fresh items like a waffle, or snag something faster like a homemade poptart to go while getting your caffeine fix. Try anything from a black coffee to a London Fog (and make sure to look at their specials). This is owned by the Black Sheep Group, which also owns the Green Bean Coffeehouse (see below). The branding is always on point.

GREEN BEAN COFFEEHOUSE

Same Black Sheep Group ownership, different vibes. Get baked goods like Apple Hand Pie, or sit down in the larger restaurant that has coffee drinks, but also has menu items like Biscuits and Gravy, a Keto Bowl, and don’t forget their lunch paninis (their specialty). They also have Black Hills Bagels, soups, sandwiches, salads, and more. Did we mention they have a drive-thru window, too?

PUMP HOUSE AT MIND BLOWN STUDIO

Named after the retro gas station building, walk in to the right for sandwiches, and (most importantly) Black Hills Bagels and Sturgis Coffee Company brews. To the left sign up for a glass blowing class with the owner, or simply catch a class and/or her at work. Some of her pieces are available there for purchase.

CHEYENNE CROSSING

At the south entrance to Spearfish Canyon National Scenic Byway, stop by the legendary Cheyenne Crossing to shop around for local items, stay for the night, and eat at the Stage Stop Cafe Try a variety of diner food, pancakes that taste like they came from the campfire, and an infamous breakfast burrito. Play table games while you catch up and/or wait for your food.

With an interior inspired by the film Chocolat, Antuñez is right off of downtown Spearfish and is a quaint, family-owned restaurant (including the mother who is a sommelier). Have them help you pair wine with their fine Spanish dining or sip on an Americano. Try items like Smoked Salmon Tostadas, Shrimp Ceviche, and Bruschetta de Espana . Finish with dessert with Chubby Chipmunk Chocolate (based out of Deadwood).

Owned by an official Harley Davidson artist and his family, stop by the brewhouse and grocer. The renovated historical building still kept its charm with a fresh look. The business is split up into the restaurant/brewhouse, a fresh grocery store with local finds, and a brewery. Menu highlights include Texas Twinkies, Pretzel Brisket, Ahi Tuna , and Fettuccine & Brussels Sprouts. Don’t don’t forget to order one of their craft cocktails.

SALOON NO. 10

The now world famous saloon is a must-stop in Deadwood where Wild Bill was shot dead by Jack McCall holding what’s now called Dead Man’s Hand.
