I’ve lived in New York and San Francisco, but I always missed the South Dakota horizon and sunset and craved green space right outside my door. SOMEONE LOCAL WHO I ADMIRE IS… Luke Tatge from Good Night Theatre Collective. “Vishnu Bunny Tattoo & Piercing has been able to help people feel great about themselves in the past through tattoo and piercing,” said microblade artist Kay Steiger. “They have expanded into microblading to be able to fit more of their clients’ desires.”

In the realm of permanent cosmetics, microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique for more defined and sculpted eyebrows.

“I love how people’s eyes stand out after they have their brows done,” said Steiger, sharing her favorite part of her job. “It’s amazing how something like a great set of eyebrows can bring focus to your eyes and their beauty.”

Steiger answered some questions about her field and her place at Vishnu Bunny.

WHAT DO YOU OFFER CLIENTS?

At this time, I offer microblading, ombré brows, and combo brows. Combo brows are a mix of microblading and ombré. However, I will expand in the future to more things, such as permanent eyeliner, lip tinting, and more.

WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT VISHNU BUNNY?

It’s important to ensure that wherever you get any form of tattoo, traditional tattoo or semi-permanent tattoo, such as microblading, that you are somewhere with your safety in mind. Coming into Vishnu Bunny for your microblading needs is a perfect option, because they specialize in hygiene and have the highest standards when it comes to reducing the risks of any sort of infection. Your (and our) safety is the utmost priority.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE TATTOO PROCESS?

I have been able to help transform people’s lives who have had illness or grooming mistakes. My absolute favorite is when the procedure is done and the smile my clients have. I’ve been told things like “It’s been quite a while since I felt beautiful.”

WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN YOUR CRAFT?

Growing up I was always insecure about how I looked. I knew I wanted to help others feel gorgeous because no one should have to feel that way. I became a makeup artist and truly enjoyed the joy I would see on my clients' faces when I completed my work with them. I never really knew much about microblading before I decided to have my own brows done. I fell in love with the process and continued educating myself on it and eventually took a class to become a microblade artist.
