AWESOME ATHENS EXPERIENCES

If you want to explore Athens as if you were a local, then the artistic walks organized by Kalliopi and Thomas are exactly what you need. Living for years in the center of Athens and collaborating with Athenian street art artists in many other projects & events, they invite us to chill artistic walks in the center of the city in its most hidden and not touristic places. Street art is integral part of the walks and gives its own information about city life. The whole process can be described as an experience since you will learn to walk and move with the steps the locals do it and you will notice details that you will hardly find in a tourist guide. The real Athens is here and is waiting for you to experience it! To book your place on the city streets visit their website.

ANCIENT GREEK INSCRIPTIONS
The Epigraphic Museum at 1, Tositsa St. in Exarchia, provided our magazine with images of three inscriptions that give important historical and religious information about Ancient Greece. We translate them into English so that you too can get... a dose of Ancient Greek language!

FUNERAL OF THE CORINTHIAN FALL IN THE NAVAL BATTLE OF SALAMINA 480/479 B.C.
Stranger, did we ever live in the city of Corinth with the abundant water; [now on the island of Aiandas, Salamis are we buried; here after defeating the Phoenician ships and the Persians and the Medes, we saved the sacred Greece].

HOLY LAW OF THE SANCTUARY OF HERCULES IN KINOSARGES, 440-430 B.C.
- - - - drachmas, and the King to take care. To be inscribed on a stone column and to be erected on both banks. Neither skins rot in Ilissos above the height of the sanctuary of Heraklion, nor tanning, nor discarding impurities in the river - - - -
3
HOLY LAW FOR THE “FREAR” (WELL) OF ALYKOS (ANCIENT MUNICIPALITY OF LAMPTRA 440-430 B.C.)
- - - - and to sacrifice to the Nymphs according to the oracle of Delphi. To pay an obolus every year those who drink water from Alykos, (that is available) for the worship of the Nymphs. Anyone who does not submit the obolus should not drink water from the well of Alykos. But if someone drinks without payment, must pay a fine of five drachmas. If anyone carries water with amphorae or pipes without having deposited the obolus, he owes fifty drachmas for each amphora, a sacred payment for the Nymphs.
