A special and modern coffee table

Reflect is a coffee table special of the structure below the surface. Two main steel support hold the entire table with only two points attaching with each other. However, the sructure is strong enough to bear the pressure and hold the things on the top. In addition, different kind of things can be sorted on the two table top which makes the table more tidy.

Concept Normal living room table has only one table top to place stuff which makes the table looks messy when all the things are put together. Thus, we came up with an idea of a table with two surfaces with the support attaches to one another that will make the table not only much more convenient to sort different kinds of things but also look special and modern.


Idea Sketch At first, we were thinking if it’s possible to place two table top on the same support. However, the structure was unstable and then difficult to balance itself. Therefore, we came up with the idea of using two supports holding each other to increase the stability, and finally concluded in this final design.

Modeling

Using Rhino to build the very first 3D model, and select suitable texture.

Original

The original model. However, the structure below was not strong enough and there was only one contact point to support the small glass would then not be locked.


The main glass is locked with only one contact point with the structure. However, the balance of the whole structure will keep it stable.

Top

We chose glass to be the table tops because the structure below can then be visible and makes the table look more modern.

For the supportive structure below, we used steel as its because of its flexibility and strengh. The texture is also looked nice with a glass.

Manufacture Physical mock ups were necessary to ensure the size and the structure of the table.

We made a mock up with boards to confirm the shape and the size.

After finalizing the size and shape, we went to the steel factory for manufacture.


We went to the factory which proficient in processing steel product. They teach us how to polish the surface of steel. After the structure being done, my partner and I started to polish it by ourselves.

The worker over there also taught us the skill of polishing steel so that we can do it ourselves.

The table was almost done before we finally locked the glass to the steel structure.

We double-checked the table and made sure the size was right and the stability of the structure.

Fanail A portable fan that can be carried without hand through attaching itself on the bag straps. The snail shape not only fits its main function to attach itself on bags, but also looks cute which suits all kinds of bags.

Concept While global warming is getting worse and worse, it’s too hot to go outdoor without a portable fan. However, holding a fan in hand all the time is not convenient for most of the people while walking. Thus, Fanail is a fan which can stick on the bags and carry around. What’s more, the fan without blades is much safer than the normal one.

Idealation At first, I was thinking about the shape of snails and I want its shape to be simple. Therefore, I came up with a simple shape combining a circle and a triangle. After trying different sizes and combination, I finally the perfect one.

As a portable fan, I want it to be lightweight and small. Therefore, I tried to make the structure inside as simple as possible.

Color Collection I chose a series of vibrate colors which looks nice under the sun. People can choose the most suitable one for themselves.

Final Model I made a model by 3D-printer, which can make the size of the output precise. After polishing the model, I painted and assembly them together.

ONEHANG ONEHANG is a special hanger that is designed for the one-armed people through combining the features of clips and hangers. Users can finish the whole process of hanging the laundry with only one single hand. Also, the design minimize the steps of hanging out the laundry and make it much easier.

Problem of hanging clothes

The collar of shirts can be damaged by hanger easily It’s tedious to hang clothes with hanger or clips


How about one-armed people?

Idealation Is it possible to simultaneously get a clothes out of the laundry and put it on the hanger?

Sometimes the laundry machine is too deep for users to take out clothes. It will be better using clips to clip them out.

After taking clothes out of the machine, we have to put them on hangers which takes a lot of time.


Sketching The idea of the shape was from birds because I think hangers and birds are always hanging up high or shaken by the wind.

Function

The design of the mechanism makes the stick below swing to the other side by hand clipping. It will swing back after raising the stick a bit to unlock.

By using only one hand, users can put the hanger into clothes easily. The lightweight material with plastic will not waste users too much power.

Not only for one-armed people, but anyone who wants to make the hanging process faster and easier.

After washing hold the handle clip its collar swing

Pick up the clothes with the hanger from the washing machine

Put them on the clothespole

Relieve the handle to make the second stick swing to the other side


After dry

Raise the stick a bit can unlock the mechanism makes it swing back

Back to step 1 to get the shirt off

Making with 3D printer and painting the color on which shows the product in realistic way.


Different colors can be used to identified different type of clothes which makes it faster to find the cloth.

Drink and Listen Record the songs and memories for you A speaker which is designed specially for solitary drinkers who like to listen to music while drinking. It chooses and plays a song randomly by scanning the bottle caps' colors or patterns. After playing songs, the speaker squeezes the bottle cap into a flat one to record the song and further make them easier to be collected like a CD disks.

Concept Music plays a significant role while people is drinking. Especially, for the people who drinks solitarily. However, choosing songs to listen or playing songs through digital devices are not perfect ways because sometimes people is tired about choosing songs or have no idea about what to listen at certain times.


Idealation My purpose is to connect the actions between drinking and listening. I chose bottle caps to act the crucial part for connecting. On one hand, it is available for all drinkers. On the other hand, it is small and easy to do some processing.

How D&L work is all beginning with putting a bottle cap in to turn the power on.

D&L will play five songs from the cloud randomly by scaning the cap.

A digital map designed for backpackers

With the technology advanced, 5G, big-data, AR, E-ink etc. have been developed successfully; In the meanwhile, backpacking is becoming more and more popular worldwide. The product presented here is aiming to provide a better using experience of navigating routes while traveling with latest technology assistance.

The breakthrough from current product to ours

We subs�tute the old database u�liza�on with a new source providing pa�ern.

Satellite photos are not able to indicate actual situa�on on the paths.

It mostly runs on the roads, which can’t provide the precise route that tourists need.

HOW

Basic of the techniques behind the innovation

These elements are how we are going to make our product working.

a. Feel alike real map By using the latest technology, E-ink, make the device light as a piece of paper. In addi�on, the device not only light but also flexible which is easy to put in a pocket.

b. Navigation by photo Using photo-mapping technology to recognize the pictures provided from the network resources and direc�ng the path through the given street view photos.

c. Embedded camera Individual track recorder: Record the route data users move to provide users several route plans. Photo data provider: Collect all of the photo users took to update the street view data everywhere.

Create a more friendly user behavior

From this new using pattern, we could receieve a more practical navigation information as being a backpacker. Even better, with the customer ship getting larger, the database is becoming more precisely as well, which brought out a totally positive feedback loop for every future users.

Tracking Mode When walking or moving, backpackers can roll up MAPPER and set it on the holder. Meanwhile, the camera can keep tracking and also shooting the view which can provide latest street view for other users.


Navigating Mode Opening MAPPER,it’s texture is like a normal piece of paper,but used like an i-pad.The display will show the view in front of the camera and the related information.In addition,routes and stores recommendations are also available on the screen.

An easy-understanding interface for all kinds of backpackers

Using the AR technology to show the info directly on the map, which is more convenient to the users.


Searching square -Scaning stores or objects on streets

When the users raise MAPPER toward the view in front of them, the square will scan objects randomly showing rela�ve informa�on.

Blue lines

-Mostly suggested from other travelers Instead of showing only the shortest path, MAPPER also concludes others recommenda�ons for giving users more selec�ve paths which may include some interes�ng stores or tourist a�rac�ons to choose from.

-Search / Route / Side info Search : Users can search any places or stores they are interested in. Route : Ge�ng route sugges�ons. Site info : More informa�on about the surrounding.

Direction sign

-Point at the location of the destinition It will always show on the display for the direc�on of the des�na�on, which can help users knowing where they are.

Red lines -Shortest path

If users only want to get to the des�na�on in the fastest way, just follow the red path.
