Context

The site is in the east of Mexico City. Its location allows easy access through Cto Interior to the city center and Chapultepec. At present, it is Mexico City International Airport. As an important transport node, it transfers people and goods in and out the city. However, the enclosing walls disconnect the site from the surrounding areas. Only few lanes connect the Terminal buildings with the city center. As Mexico City continues to expand, the land is about to be released and become the city’s major green area. We propose a new exchange system that allows more interaction with the city itself and the surrounding areas.

Concept As lungs play the role of exchange, we take the feature as our design concept. The original runways are preserved as the frame, where exchange, flow, and communication happen. Center areas, residential areas, and groves regarded as three different kinds of Alveoli are placed along the frame.

Plan
Design In order to connect the surrounding areas, the enclosing walls that once block the site will be opened. Street patterns will be duplicated to bring the activities in. We focus on the interfaces of each Alveolus that allow people flow between different functions. Various methods are used for exchange to take place. The center areas are placed along the runways and terminal buildings. Residential areas are placed next to the nearby neighborhoods. Groves are scattered among other functions. Lastly, we bring the water in. The channels follow the main runway and connect the alveoli.

Project development: The Direction of Industries isn’t clear and industrial parks are almost saturated; So setting proportion of traditional industries and rising industries, and further regulate the factories by green building standards. Industries content: Factories without industrial registration; Frist, Creating Stationed principle of factories without industrial registration. Second, Cleaning out all penalties about factories without industrial registration. Finally, Creating stationed incentives about factories without industrial registration. Environmental impact: Industrial pollution, Factories without industrial registration are mainly metal machining. The pollution is mainly wastewater and air pollution; So set proper sewage pipeline and sewage treatment plants to treat industrial waste water centrally. And further, Ask factories reduce pollution.

Large scale Play the role of relaying the industrial belt on the north side of Tainan City.
Orientation & Vision Accordingly, we will deal with the emission of pollution and protect the Ecological surrounding , provide the space for illegal factories to move in and deal with the problem of flooding and promote the convenience of transportation. So we propose "A Industrial District of Ecology and Production" to be this project vision.
Meso scale Accommodate the illegal factories.
Small scale Develop the green infrastructure and create the low emission industrial structure .

Phase 1 The site locates in a low-lying and flooding area. To prevent the damage from the water, set ponds to collect water and reduce the flooding risks.
Phase 2 (1) Keep the existing temple and surrounding trees. (2) Set a park to protect the living environment of rare birds. (3) Set a green land to preserve the trees & office. (4) Set a park to serve the locals and connect to other parks.
Phase 3 20m road when both side are factories, road when one side is factor y. The straight intersec tion. Utilize roads as segregation facility; 10m road when no entrance of the factory; 15m road when one side is factory; 20m road when both side are factories.
Phase 4 Set the facilities at the east side of the main road to enhance the feasibility of the workers.

Context The Eixample is a district of Barcelona between the old city and what were once surrounding small towns, constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is characterized by long straight streets, a strict grid pattern crossed by wide avenues, and square blocks with chamfered corners. However, it confronts a problem that the citizens can’t get enough meeting places. Moreover, City Hall expect to make it a greener, more accessible, pleasant, and more self-sufficient super-block.corners. Concept Scattered Open Spaces There are few public spaces for c i t i ze n s i n E i x a m p l e i n c u r re n t circumstances, as it only leaves them with the use of narrow sidewalk, next to the buildings and few liberated courtyards.
Assembling By assembling all the available spaces such as the current public spaces, the pedestrian along the buildings, and the street corner nearby, we can enlarge the public spaces.
Even Distribution For there are originally few public spaces for us to create meeting places and they are actually scattered in Eixample, we have to, expanding CerdĂ 's plan, liberate specific courtyards to create even distributed meeting places.
Connection Last but not least, all the meeting places should be connected, like w h at Ce rd Ă ex p e c te d, s o t h at activities happening in each meeting place can flow from one place to another and therefore we can make it a network to light up
31
Prototype To put our concept into practice, we make some rules of design. Take the assigned nine blocks for example. First, if there is a public space, the pedestrian and the corner nearby must be assembled with it to enlarge the current public space; Second, if there are few public spaces in one block, its courtyard should be liberated. At last, all public spaces should be connected by the Passatge, Carrer, and Avinguda outside the blocks and the pedestrian, gateway, ramp, and skywalk inside the blocks. For instance, if there is a passatge in front of a block, the courtyard of the block should be liberated and connect the passatge by a gateway.
32
Phase 1 Based on the 5-meter pedestrian, we recombine the blocks by modularization, cutting them into cubes.
Phase 2 Next, we extend CerdĂ 's design concept of leaving the citizens with sufficient public spaces by liberating specific courtyards.
Phase 3 To re a l i ze Ce rd Ă ' s i d e a o f making connection between each significant spots, we create gateway around the courtyards to link all the public spaces.
Phase 4 Besides, we will connect the blocks by the pedestr ian, the ramp, and the skywalk to make it a complete walking circulation as the meeting placces for the citizens. 33
Design There will be a variety of activities happening inside or outside the blocks after the spaces of the assigned blocks are liberated and each public spaces are connected by the pedestrian, the gateway, the ramp, and the skywalk, which create far more spaces for citizens to interact with one another and even build a sense of community. Starting from the nine assigned blocks, we then hope to apply our idea to the whole Eixample. In this way, it can be full of energy and vitality and be lit up one by one as we expect.

Context & Concept The Invisible Cities, written by Italo Calvino, is a short story about that Marco Polo tell his adventure to empire. Although it’s just a conversation, Marco Polo is like a screenwriter. His audience can travel every city with his words. Inspired by Invisible City, we would like to create a theatre as Obscura box, which have the external world inside the box. As a theatre without wall, it gives people a chance to experience their world in a illusory way.

Design We design the projection device on the existing window so that surrounding life scenes can be projected. Everyday morning, the crowds of the market are like large-scale stage plays, at noon people eat in the lively arcade, and in the evening, some people play chess under trees and shopping in crowded night markets. This theatre is usually open to people, who can buy food from verandas and enter into theatre directly. Street artist perform here freely. Small performances or workshops can place in temporary auditorium that can easily change scale. In fact, we note that the base has been good potential to performed, in order to maintain its flexibility, all the actions are light-based.
43
Detail Finally, this theatre has been variety functions for a long time during urban changes. It used to be a stadium, a dance square, a concert hall and even a large exhibition. Unfortunately, those daily life were not recorded in detail by Marco Polo’s way. We hope this theatre can present daily life as an obscure box so people can appreciate their daily drama in a fantastic way.
