PROLOGUE
CONTENT
Looking back these years that I was studying architecture, my perspective and value towards design are shaped by everyday work and life, people I met, books I read, etc. My undergraduate course design is often aimed at solving the problem of urban interface, integrating new buildings into the old context, and integrating the site into the urban interface. The experience in China leads me to exploring more diversified design theories and more diversified social and cultural backgrounds. Architecture needs to create "experience", including space experience, visual experience,interactive experience and so on. My design include projects with varies scales from high-rise business office complex to a small art gallery.In terms of the design concept, I’ve been looking for ways to enhance people's experience in architecture. The portfolio is a collection of work to communicate my ideas through the process of thinking, making and iterating. Personally, I enjoy how my portfolio coheres with my personality. I also like to have very little description about my work. How others might interpret my work through limited drawings is imperative and captivating.

The main purpose of the project is to explore a new connection between urban viaduct and hotel. In general,urban viaduct will bring a lot of negative effects on buildings, especially hotels. The part of the hotel near the viaduct will be disturbed by the noise caused by the traffic flow.
I have tried many ways to reduce the influence of Viaduct on buildings. Changing the facade is not enough to solve the problem fundamentally. Then I realized that it is essential to create space to achieve a win-win result.Consequently, an overhead square appeared.

The site is located in Wenshu area of Chengdu, a cultural and historical district. Then, what we need to do was not only an art museum design, but also reflect the regional architectural style , create more public space and try to integrate it into local context and complex.
First of all, I thought of using sloping roofs to echo the local buildings. Considering that art gallery lighting mainly depends on interior lighting design, the whole building sinked, and the sunken square was designed as the main entrance and outdoor activity area.

At first, in order to show the characteristics of residential buildings in Sichuan province, I referred to the roof forms of local buildings and applied them to the architecture. Considering that the site is in the WENSHU area, a walkable roof can creat more public space for the visitors.

This site is located in my university campus. It is surrounded by student apartments, gymnasium and basketball court. Gymnasium and the flat are two visual focuses, which makes the theatre possible to form a visual interacÂtive relationship with these two points.
In the process of site design, I want to use the roof of the whole building as an activity area to create more interactive spaces, so that students can have more activity areas in the site. I tried to make it possible for students to watch the show on the roof when walking and relaxing.

The site is located in the buffer area of students' life, study and extracurricular activities. So it is the visual focus of different places such as gymnasium and student apartment. As the project mainly serves college students, its site boundary is open and its functions are diverse. We need to introduce more variable space to enhance the students' experience. And I need to make sure that in different locations, the buildings from the students' perspective are harmonious and integrated with the site.Its roof is also an area for students to move around, which will make the building more attractive.

The project includes the design of a high-rise office building and the landscape design of the original site. It proposed to actively develop the business of the community. The original building in the site is a shopping plaza and we urgently need to enhance its attractiveness.
In order to attract the surrounding residents, I designed a lot of landscape footpaths at the edge of the site to guide people into the site. Accordingly, the building faces the main landscape, and outdoor commercial corridors are designed to enhance landscape experience.
The site is surrounded by residential buildings, and the design aims to stimulate the commercial vitality of the area. There is no obvious boundary of the site, and residents can enter the site through landscape footpaths or various entrances. Hig-rise business office complex and the landscape can attract more people to this area. As there are many community parks and other activity places around the site, the tower should have a spacious sight in all directions. In order to let the people working in the high-rise office building have more leisure space in their spare time, the building has a large number of terraces. And the tower is rotated to create more grey space.

When bamboo is used as building material, what kind of building unit and space can we construct? When we connect bamboo together, what kind of node can highlight the material characteristics of bamboo? In the spring of 2016, my team and I explored these issues. The opportunity came from a construction event held by the school of architecture and design. In this construction Festival, participants can start from the material cutting, hand over techniques, combination patterns and other aspects, with bamboo as the main material, supplemented by other materials, to form a space form with distinctive characteristics and can express the theme. The goal of our group was to build a small shade with bamboo. What's more, the permeability of space should be ensured and the material characteristics of bamboo should be fully displayed. So we started our construction in several stages to subdivide the work content and steps. First of all, we jointly designed a model to determine the general shape of the building. Then our team members worked in two parts. Some members were responsible for the processing of wood based auxiliary materials, others were devoted to node treatment of the bamboo. We use wood as the main node support. This was also the most difficult part of the whole process, we needed to make sure that multiple bamboo can be fixed into a unit by nodes. Grooves were cut at both ends of the bamboo to connect with the nodes.At the same time, many holes were reserved on the joints of bamboo and wood, which were reinforced by ropes to ensure their stability. We built a number of building units and further combined them into an integral support. In the last step, we fixed the prepared sunshade material to the bamboo bracket with ropes and holes.

When I was a junior, I studied the history of Chinese architecture. With the indepth understanding of Chinese ancient architecture, I gradually sprouted the idea of exploring the modeling and structural characteristics of Chinese ancient architecture. Fortunately, in the summer before my senior year, I got this opportunity and had an unforgettable experience. In July 2017, our architectural students were asked to participate in a field practice of architectural surveying and mapping. I was lucky to come to the internship unit: the ancient architecture design department of Chengdu Academy of Archaelogy. I followed my predecessors to Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province, where we jointly surveyed a temple built in the period of the Republic of China, Zhongjiang Martyr Temple. The temple has five rooms in width and eight rafters in depth. We measured the corresponding data of each room in detail, and recorded the beam frame structure.The building had been in disrepair for a long time, and the purpose of this survey was the follow-up reconstruction design. Therefore, the mapping of each room's beam frame should be accurate. In this process, I found that the layout of ancient buildings was not necessarily symmetrical, the beams were not necessarily one-to-one corresponding, and the sizes of columns were different. Details such as overhanging eaves and columns outside the door should also be paid more attention to in the section. However, the key point was the top view of the beam frame, which decided how to promote the subsequent transformation design.
