Rock Shrimp Recipe
Rock Shrimp or the “Poor Man’s Lobster”, as they are often referred to, have a rock-hard shell, which is how they get their name. The texture and flavor of Rock Shrimp is very similar to lobster. And, if you’d rather not pay for lobster prices when looking for a nice appetizer, for your family dinner, this could be the perfect substitute. If you consider yourself a Shrimp fan and you’ve never had Rock Shrimp, it is an absolute must try! Please, be warned though…for the super Shrimp eaters out there (like the B.O.W. Crew), buy a lot of em, because you will most certainly wish you had, while eating them.

DIY Seafood - Rock Shrimp Recipe
Rock shrimp are found from Norfolk, Virginia, south through the Gulf of Mexico to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, typically 80-240 feet under the ocean’s surface. The Rock Shrimp live mainly on a sandy bottom, where they are active at night and burrow in the sand, during the day. They are usually 2-3 inches long and come about 21-25 per pound. Their season goes from August- October.
They are easy to cook. But, taking some extra time to prepare them will pay off. Rock Shrimp are definitely worth all the time and effort. Check out this recipe and enjoy these flavorful gifts from the Sea.
