Luggage design To enhance functionality and personality in traveling

Opportunity A traveler usually faces certain situations below. To rearrange objects when luggage is overweight or sometimes things have to be put in or taken out. People can not recognize their own luggage on luggage carousels easily.

The door lock is attatched to one of the luggage locks. By opening the door, the user can put their personal items into the luggage easily.

X chair To create a seat that has a working and relaxing sitting posture.

Inspiration When observing a person's sitting posture, I found that there is a difference between work time and leisure time. Would it be possible to switch the atmosphere by simply changing a chair?

Waiting light Focuses on daily behavior and enforces the relationship between object and human.

Oberserving & Research According to Cheer magazine, 55% of people work 10 hours a day. Some people who live together are either couples, family or roomates, but because of different schedules or long working hours, one might already be taking a rest while the other has just come home. When observing people who have come home, I found there are 3 things they would do first: turn on the lights, put their keys in a certain place, and take off their shoes.

Ideation By combining lighting and a key holder, I came out with the idea to make the switch a key holder. For one, this design can reduce your cognitive load, in that your keys must always be put in the same place. It is also an emotional design, so if someone comes home late, the person already at home would leave a light on for their friend/family/ roommate.

One comes home, hanging the keys on the light switch to turn on the light.

The other one comes home, hanging the keys on the other side of the light switch to turn off the light.

Gift project In this study of client– consumer relationships, I observed my friend Tanushree. I found that Tanushree likes things that are: recyclable reusable versatile personal biking cats I found that she didn't have a pair of gloves so I decided to gave her biking gloves, but designed a gift box so she can have a good time with her beloved cat. Cats love cardboard boxes!

Research & Infographics This is a school project for The University for the Arts. Starting from my interest in illegal shipping ewaste, I tried to seek opportunities about this hot topic by doing additional research. The goal of this project is to create a narrative synopsis about the synergy between technological and socioeconomic events while using infographics to tell how these influential forces impact those events.

Website planning This is one of my works from when I was in a digital marketing company. It is a children's painting event for a financial holdings. They have had it for several years but they want to enlarge the target audience. I made the icon of the year, Rody, more interactive and more narrative so that children can have a small adventure with this website.

Filming & editing I am interested in filming so I took a film class at the UArts. The story is about a girl who feels disconnected to the world because of her language barrier so she uses music to communicate. I used silence and sound as a metaphor of disconnect and connect respectively.

Zoe Ho jho@uarts.edu +1 856 5715479 I am from Taiwan, but I am a current student in the United States and will stay for a least 2 years. I currently study in the Masters Product Design Program at the University of Arts. My background is in advertising and marketing. My training taught me to have good observation and insightful skills regarding the human mind while also cultivating my interest in human behavior. In addition to these skills, I love making things, especially smart and simple objects. I hope that by combining my background I can make something aesthetic and marketable. Therefore product design fulfills my interests which combines my background and current interests.
