Modeling is not designed for one gender, it’s designed for two. In this issue we wanted to support the male models out there trying to build a name for themselves in the fashion and hair industry. This issue we also sit down with Cleveland, OH native, David Ford, who is a minority eye-wear designer and we talk about his brand and his products and what inspires him to create. Along with the other products advertised in this issue, (wardrobe, luggage, & shoes) we highlight some of his hottest pairs of eye-wear. Our next issue will be dedicated for fitness. So tell a fellow photographer or fitness model and let them know we are taking submissions for our Hommes Issue which will be released in June. Thanks

mission to change the game and fascinate the fashion world with custom designed optics.

We sat down with Cleveland, Ohio’s own David Ford to talk to him about his product, his brand, and where he is taking his company in the future. We first met David in Atlanta, Ga. at a hair photoshoot held in a Paul Mitchell school. He was there supporting the host, and he brought along a couple of his shades to show off. After trying on a few and checking them out in the nearest mirror, we must say they looked very nice - you could really see yourself wearing a pair and owning a few. So David, give us a little history about yourself? Well, I’m a Cleveland Native, born and raised. I’ve been an entrepreneur for about 30 years. And I’m an owner of a premier Music Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. I have completed apprenticeships with world class designers from all over the globe, some of which from Australia, China, Italy, Los Angeles, and New York What is your overall mission? I want to provide fashion products to enhance every visual image, and to boost the WOW factor. What’s your vision, do you have a plan of action? I plan to incorporate innovative designs, quality processes, and customer driven products for fashion conscious consumers.

Your Goal? To set the bar high with unique styles designed by a native of Cleveland, Ohio. My main focus is to have my products in consumers hands globally. I would love to see them circulating in countries like Asia, Canada, Europe, & South America. And lets not forget here, in North America. When did you start designing your shades? I started in 2014. Have you done any networking in your hometown community? Yes actually. I’ve created a few mentorship programs in the area of design and photography for youths in the Cleveland, OH area. Another project I started was the “Readers for Seniors” (Free Reading Glasses for Seniors), which was launched In 2016. I adopted five senior citizen sites, one community center, and distributed over 76 pairs of readers to needy seniors. I love giving back to the community whenever I can. It makes me feel great. Is there a specific 45

ABOVE PHOTO: A set of posh brown David Ford’s custom designed shades.

Is there a specific demographic you’re trying to reach? My product is for all nationalities. My target audience is for individuals that are 18 years and older. All genders - male, female, & unisex. What do you find to be some of your key strengths? Well for one, I’m a minority designer. You don’t find that many minorities designing custom eyewear. My frames are also unique designs, not knockoffs are copies of other designers that are already established in the industry.

I carry a wide array of color options so as a consumer you can customize your everyday outfit with a pair of one of our optics. I use high quality materials that exceed military standards. I also have a high volume of referrals and repeat clients who always speak highly of not only myself but my brand as a whole. What do you find to be some of your key strengths? Well for one, I’m a minority designer. You don’t find that many minorities designing custom eyewear. My frames are also unique designs, not knockoffs are copies of other designers that are already established in the industry. Can you talk about some of the advantages of purchasing a pair of your optics? www.7huesmag.com --

As far as logistics goes, we have a warehouse that stores inventory and ships our products from there to wherever you want on demand. Another option is dock to dock, when our inventory is drop shipped from dock to dock.

A couple of our purchase solutions options is we do whole pricing by units. We also do consignment pricing by units. We also have a wide social media footprint to get the word out and stay connected with our following. We also have a direct relationship with our manufacturer and we have a quick design to production cycle so our turnaround is fast.

Thanks alot for sitting down and talking to us David. What do you have planned next? No problem. I’m gonna keep pushing the brand and perfecting my photography. There are days I want to shoot my product or models wearing my product to further promote the brand and I just can’t wait on a photographer. I’m also looking into shooting more high fashion models who can give my optics an edge. We are also looking into doing a few fashion films and commercials to increase the visual side of our marketing.

Any popular people endorcing your brand? Sure, a couple of big names have been spotted wearing a pair of DF shades. Like Brandy (music, movies,
