Letter from the Editor

"CURLS - AFRICAN FASHION WARRIOR"

back with our Hair Issue. Even though it's only our 2nd issue we are excited and ecstatic to bless you guys this month with some creative hair styles

from all around the globe. Hair has always been a favorite of mine being that I've worked with a lot of hairstylist in the past, and I still shoot for hair brands until this day. So as a creative, I only thought it was right that I created a separate division at 7Hues Mag for our Hair Dressers who love shooting editorials. Just to let you know a few of our future goals. We plan to create healthy collaborations with hair brands globally so that we can host creative shoots as well as informative tutorials for on-line platforms. We plan to attend as many hair conferences and beauty & award shows as possible so we can keep you updated and informed on the now, what's trending, and who's going home with the gold. We also plan on having more on-line feature contest to get our followers more involved with our brand, and build a more stronger on-line community. Once again, our themes are out for 2018. We encourage you guys to start shooting now. We are pushing real hard to have these issues on stands by next year. So moving forward there will be more celebrity features, interviews, inside content, and on-line features. Thanks for being apart of what we have established. Enjoy the issue.

CURLS COLLECTION BY INTERCOIFFURE SOUTH AFRICA Our country is overflowing with so many cultures and with it comes a tangible array of traditional expression. Hair, fashion, music, sport and entertainment are the very keys to unlock the wealth of cultural diversity. This very cross pollination of different cultural and traditional influence and inspiration is what lead me to challenge our ICD team to allow these rural African styling concepts into a European playground. Inevitably a tribal energy will then become an intrinsic part of the African influence due to the history and foot print of all our rainbow tribes and their war stories. That is why you see combinations of braiding, colour and texture together with high fashion trends in African Fashion Warrior.

LUMINESCENT KATY REEVE, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, TONI & GUY AUSTRALIA

HAIRSTYLISTS

Photography Jenni Hare // Make-Up Cheriene Waddell // Styling Emma Cotterill

COLLECTION INSPIRATION True to the artist’s natural sway towards a strong technical foundation and ultra-modern finish, Luminescent reveals a series of images that are totally committed to the genre of hair fashion. Whilst there is a strong editorial feel with commendable originality in the construction of organic shapes and textures, the inclusion of three killer haircuts, provides validation of Reeve’s dexterity as a full spectrum stylist. The re-work of a 60’s mullet is arguably the collection hero, playing with contrasting elements of strength and softness via a chewy blunt fringe and almost wispy disconnection through the crown. Always reluctant to over-complicate, Reeve explains that she had two very simple starting points with regards to the overall look and feel. “I wanted this collection to explore two elements; light and movement. Specifically, I wanted to create internal movement with the hair and external movement with a light source,” recalls Reeve. In reference to the light source, a constantly moving laser was projected on to the model as each frame was shot; creating random slices of illuminated panels within the frame that further accentuated a modern composition. Skin was overtly luminous with an understated palette, whilst fashion was kept neutral in blocks of white and bleached sand.

TRANS Fixx SALON

ROKK EBONY, GLEN WAVERLEY, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Photography Elizabeth Kinnaird // Hair by Elena Nardone // Make-Up Carla Dyson // Stylist Jessica Jade

www.rokkebony.com.au

Drawing inspiration from numerous diverse genres, Elena's unconventional collection Transfixx channels a time in 1960’s London, where the era of modernists began. Transfixx is a subculture of all things Elena has a deep passion for; art, music and particularly fashion. Elena has taken cues from designers such as Gucci, particularly their latest SS16 campaign, which embodies modernist high-end fashion of the 1960’s. Pairing this with inspiration from Vivienne Westwood’s new wave and modern punk designs, Elena feels more is certainly more when it comes to her collection, “Transfixx”. For the photography, Elena wanted to capture the premise and individuality of unsuspecting portraits. “I didn't want each model to have the same expression, I wanted to capture their personality and let them move organically”. Elena envisioned the overall look to be over-saturated, raw and contrasting. Playing with a mix of blue and red lighting the shadow and highlights allowed Elena to tailor to each model and their particular look. The makeup was understated but precise, with each model having an ostentatious feature that contrastingly complimented each models individual look. Each of these individual elements helped Elena bring together her vision of a medley of chaos.

UPSTYLE BRAIDS COLLECTION BY INTERCOIFFURE SOUTH AFRICA Our country is overflowing with so many cultures and with it comes a tangible array of traditional expression.

The Aligné Collection: Meaning aligned in French Inspired by the fashion house Gucci, where 80's meets the new now, Ziggy Stardust was the touch point for the collection. Colorfully mismatch, sparkles with a riot of vibrant pattern, kaleidoscope of on trend colors combine a vibe of sexy 80' hair. Aligné is a fusion of effortless undone editorial hairdressing and key fashion trends namely Optimism and Escapism. Flowing from clashing patterned textures, bold and vibrant wacky spins on floral prints to contradictions of glitter and glam. Chic raw shapes with powerful texture, tousled movement amplify feminine beauty with the hair remains absolute.

THE PLAYA COLLECTION This year’s collection focuses on the idea of individuality, as Creative Director Natalie Kasses explains. "Playa is about a community where everyone can express themselves freely. The ethos of the community is acceptance, which in turn encourages complete freedom of self-expression. You are free to be who you are or whoever you want to be, without fear of judgement."

Sandra: This playful look was inspired by the festival sunshine! A root shadow of tangerine was blended into saffron yellow. The styling was kept simple and clean but given an avant-garde edge by using a tong to create this centered wave effect.

Ghozal:

Internal braids were created so the dramatic feathered headpiece could be pinned in place with a combination of twists and crimping. A glossing treatment was also applied to the hair to give it terrific shine, mirroring the headpiece.

Tyrah:

Purple is poised to be the defining shade of 2018, according to fashion insiders so this was a significant nod to the incoming trend. Obvious panels of violet and dark purple-pink were strategically placed in the hair, including the fringe, to update the classic bob.
