Our Dreht Fairytale
Once upon a time in a European project, Comenius, that is history now, 4 cities: Athens, Frankfurt, Instabul and Pruchnik decided to cook , eat ,travel and meet each other with the help of a camera in the hands of their teenagers. Firstly ,on December 2013 , just a little before Christmas time we travelled to Frankfurt to taste winter recipes of Northern Europe. We put on our smiling faces and walked along Main in Christmas bazaars, visited shiny Heidelberg and the picturesque vineyards of Rudesheim. We had such a nice time that we arranged to meet again.
So during spring, lale Zamani, on April 2014, we visited the shiny Instabul to taste spring recipes of Eastern Europe. We walked a lot in, in fact, two continents in one city: Europe and Asia. We travelled in three seas, Bosporus, Marmara and Golden Horn, strolled in eastern pazars and walked Buyuc Ada. We enjoyed meeting each other so much that in October 2014 we agreed to visit Pruchnik to taste polish food of central Europe and admire the autumn nature. Glittering Krakow and majestic Rzeszow were more than captivating. We had the luck to join the polish celebration of “Teachers’ Day “ in a real castle.
And here we are now in Athens, April 2015, to close this project and open a new friendship between 12th Gymnasium Acharnon, SP1, Ulku Ortaokulu and Ludwig-Borne Schule. Four cities, four countries: Greece, Germany, Poland and Turkey collaborated and worked together, teachers and pupils sharing the similarities and differences of our everyday life, customs, habits and recipes.
Now that our fairytale has come to its end, we believe all of us share the sweet taste of our fruitful collaboration, which made us wiser in experiences and offered us beautiful tastes and lifelong memories. In Greece we say “ fagame psomi kai alati” which means” we ate together bread and salt” that means we came close through our collaboration. Our trip started with 4 strangers and ends with 4 friends. And as fairytales say “and they all lived happily ever after” .
