Facts
During the Civil War some states weren't even states yet, but territories.
-The North has more supplies than the south -The bloodiest battle in the civil war was the battle of Gettysburg Pennsylvania -1/10 north soldiers were african americans -Racism was still present on the battlefield! African american soldiers were paid less than white soldiers
Disease
Troubles back home
Sickness was one of the most dangerous thing during the war since germ theory didn’t exist, and most camps were extremely crowded and proper medical treatments didn’t exist yet so if you didn’t die in battle than you’d probably die of sickness. As history.net says, “An estimated total of 785,000-1,000,000 were killed in action or died of disease.” This shows the incredible effects of sickness and how it played a major role in the civil war.
While there was struggle at the battlefield, there was also struggle at home, for families. Because most men were the person in the family who made the money that the family relied on than when they went to war there was no one left in the family to make money increasing the poverty rate drastically. And also since men were almost the only workers, when they went to war they couldn’t do their jobs, causing a decrease in almost everything that couldn’t be made at home.

In the end...
The civil war was a terrifying time for both sides of the war and for people not fighting to. It was a terrible time that history will hopefully never repeat. But it was for a greater cause, freedom. By winning the civil war african american slowly gained more and more rights helping forge a greater America. Though there were tremendous consequences, the civil war was one of the meaningful wars of America.
