America’s involvment in Normandy was crucial to winning World War 2. The invasion in to Omaha beach was on June 6 1944. This was the start of the plunge through Normandy. Many men had died and American and allies worked to get more citys under control. America’s involvment in Normandy was crucial because of the strength of the military, strategizing, and allies.

The Strenght and Numbers of The american Amry during WW2 Furthermure, there is the strength in the American army. The American army had multiplied a ton during the 1940s. Firstly, from 1943 to 1944 the total army had grown with 2.5 million people joining. And secondly, the American amry had a lot more loyalty compared to the Germans. Some of the germans have even tried to kill Hitler as said on pg.94 of The Journal of Scott Pendleton Collins, “The story going around is that Hitler’s own guys tried to kill him last Thursday!” Lastly or finnaly, the army had mental strength. Some of the guys on the American side that had been fighting had been hit and didn’t even know it or at least that’s what they said on pg. 23, “There were soldiers who had been hit and didn’t know it.” Knowing that some soldiers were hit and didn’t even know it in the American amry is related to how strong the army is because they had the strength to keep fighting and never give up on how brutal the hit was even if they didn’t know it. This is why the American army’s strength was crucial to defeating Germany.

Strategizes used in Omaha Beach .In addtion there is also the strategizing of the American amry. The American amry used a lot more stratigies compared to brute force. My first detail on strategizing is that the main charater(Scott) took 2 of his grenades and put them under a mattress to bring the ceiling down on who ever Germans were hiding there. A qoute from or evidence is on pg. 59, “I took a grenade and went into the room over the one I thought I had seen the movement in. It was a bedroom, and I pulled the mattress off the bed. I put the mattress on the floor, took two grenades off my belt, and pulled the pins. I help them for a second, then put them on the floor and put the mattress over them. I knew the grenades would bring down the ceilng below us.” My second detial is that they used a “Spread and Focus” strategy. Which ment that when a million of the German soldiers had been fighting against Russia on the east, this made a good opening for the American Army to get in on Omaha Beach. My last detial is that they would split up into “Squads” as said on pg. 28 when a capt. Yelled, “‘Three Squad! Move out!’” The squads enabled the Americans to do more than one thing at once and have each squad have a job. This evidence relates to what stratigies the American army used in The Normandy Invasion because this was simply a task that made it easier for America to invade France. The American strategizing was crucial to winning WW2.

The Numbers 123 Lastly, there is the American allies. There were many allies across europe that were connected to the US. The American Army had 17 countries backing them up. Germany had a lot of allies at that time too. 2 of them were Italy and Japan. Evidence on this is on britannica, “Axis powers, the coalition headed by Germany, Italy and Japan that opposed the Allied powers in World War II.” With just 2 of the Aliied forces and America on Dday it had measured up to 156,000 allies. This has text evidence too, “the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 AMERICAN SIGN FROM American, British and Canadian forces landed on FIGHTING JAPAN five beaches.” This supports that there is american allies because it shows the numbers of FACT BOX America and 2 of it’s allies. This is why American 1. DID YOU KNOW allie’s involvment in WW2 was crucial to winning THE COAST it. GUARD FOR WAR CAM OUT IN 1942! 2. DID YOU KNOW THAT MARINES WERE 1/4 OF THE ARMY in 1945!

AMERICAN SOLDIERS

CONCLUSION Therefore America’s involvment in Normandy was crucial because of the strength of the military, strategizing, and allies. This essay has gone down and showed how there had been numbers multiplying in the American army. It showed how many allies America had. As well we showed the strategies we used to make are job easier. Do you think if we did not capture normandy we would have not won the war?
