MEMORANDUM FOR ALL INCOMING PERSONNEL SUBJECT: Welcome to the HHC, 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support) We are pleased to welcome you to the Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support). You are joining and elite team of professionals. Established on the battlefield, our unit lineage traces back to 1944, when the 807th Medical Service Detachment was created and introduced to the United States Army during World War II. Please see our Welcome Booklet for more on the history of the 807th MC (DS). Today, the 807th MCDS is one of two, 2-star Commands on Fort Douglas. It is one of only three 2star deployable medical commands in the Army, responsible for managing all of the Army Reserve’s deployable field medical units from Midwest Ohio to California, providing general medical, surgical, dental, ambulance, behavioral health, preventive medicine, and veterinary support to unit and civilian populations. Nestled amongst the University of Utah campus, Fort Douglas and the surrounding campus are a proud community with a rich history. In 2002, a large portion of the Reserve Center was given to the University, where all of the Fort’s historical buildings are still in use today. If you get the opportunity, take the time to do the walking tour of Fort Douglas and see the history beyond the gates of the Reserve Center. A walking tour map is included in your welcome packet. Salt Lake City offers something for everyone. Whether you are from Utah or a state a distance away, we are confident that you will enjoy your drill time here each month. The city not only offers spectacular views in every season, but also hosts a wide variety of activities, entertainment, and dining. We hope that in your time here you get to know the city and its people. We are excited for you to join our ranks and look forward to all that you will bring to the Team. Our motto at HHC is “Soldier’s First,” and we believe in taking care of our Soldiers. If there is anything that you need in your transition, please do not hesitate to let your leadership know how we can assist. “Soldier’s First”
