Runbo Robotic Runner Companion 2016.7 Group Project, 4 Students
Ninebot is a China newly born company aiming to develope personal transportation vehicles. In 2015, Ninebot purchased Segway, which is the inventor of two-wheeled self-balanced electric vehicle. Segway robot was developed from Segway two-wheeled electric vehicle and published in CES, 2016. It consists of many advanced robotic technologies, which is expected to be a new robotic platform for developers. I took part in this project grouped with three of my classmates during the internship. Collabrated with Segway Robot by Ninebot and Yuanwu Design Studio, we tried to find a scene that newly published Segway Robot could apply to.

In Beijing, about 10% of people would like go running/jogging for exercise. While the proportion of American people who enjoy running/jogging is 10%, too. In China, a runner will spend 36oo짜 purchasing sports equipments in average. And a professional runners will spend 4600짜 on them, which displays the great economic strength of runners.

Since the obstacle avoidance of Segway Robot hasn’t made it to work at high speed, we chose to control it with a controler which is like a brake. When there are obstacles, the runner could make it slower, then let it avoid automatically. Meawhile, the controler could detect heartbeat, which helps Runbo know your current physical status and adjust.

Jet Light Souvenir Design for Beihang University 2016.5
Beihang University, which is Chinese first aviation professinoal university, has been a 1st-class comprehensive university in China. Countless students studied here during the 64-year history. Nowadays, there are nearly 30,000 students studying here and the avaition museum inside the campus attracts thousands of tuorists every day. Thus, the demand of souvenirs is strong. While, we found the existing goods in the souvenir shop is so oridinary and not able to display the unique characteristic of aviation culture. So I deisgned this product to meet the need from students.

Iteration In order to make it more intelligible by students, I decided to choose the shape of jet engine as the main visual element. Then try to combine it with commodities. After four generations, the final version was determined.
The first generation is a humidifier with the shape of jet engine. And when vapor flow through the griller, a vortex street would be formed.
The second generation is a light with the shape of jet engine. The frosted plastic shows the interior structure of jet engine.
The third generation is a light with complicated hollowed-out shape. I used Grasshopper and Rhino to model, but the outcome was not good.

Leftovers Collector Leftovers Collecting System for Campus Cafeteria 2016.10 Group Project 4 Students
The goal of this project is to redesign the trash cans in campus. After a overall research, we found that the leftovers collecting system in dining halls has been ignored so long that results in many issues, such as low efficiency and awkward scenes. So our group worked hard to find better solution beneficial for different perspectives.

Self-Service We let each student share the responsbility for dropping leftovers and collecting tablewares by setting a well-organized layout. By doing this, we could not only release the burden for cleaners, but also improve the utility of space.

To analyze user’s current status, physical data (e.g heart rate) and environment data (e.g temperature) would be collected from user. Then we designed 6 categories of songs relevant to 6 kinds of moods. The machine learning system could record the play history in the shape of hexagon patterns and use them to learn about users’ preference.

7th Design for Sitting Grand Prix Exhibition Designers are always trying to create comfortable chairs for people. But seldom there is someone explore the other side—uncomfortableness. “Sit on Pins” is the result combinging my understanding of uncomfortableness with my sense of humor.
Inspiration
Concept In the beginning, this chair looks similar with other chairs, because the sponge supports the top cover and hides the pins. While there is someone overweight sitting or someone has been sitting for a long time, the sponge will shrink and let pins stick to users’ butts, forcing them to stand up and walk around.

Minimally invasive surgeries have been enabled by cutting-edge medical technologies. In the past, incisions made by operations can sometimes leave large wounds that are painful and take a long time to heal. Minimally invasive surgery refers to surgical techniques that limit the size of incisions needed and so lessens wound healing time, associated pain and risk of infection. 2015, China Design Challenge corporated with Boston Scientific, aiming to promote the public understanding and attention of the rapidly developed minimally invasive medicine with design methods.
Inspiration
Record the path of the instruments inside the body with scanning technology. After artistic transformation, an unique landscape painting will be created. Comparing with x-ray images, it is not only the particular memory as for patients, but also the subtle expression to the modern medical technology.

Storyline If people get issues with their vesselsďźŒ they could choose receiving minimally invasive surgeries, which is a more ideal option. During the surgeries, staff will collect medical image records. After surgeries, medical image records will be transformed by software into Chinese landscape paintings. Instead of dreadful X-ray films, these meaningful paintings will be given to patients as the records of surgeries.

When we fall asleep, we are still losing water by breathing, sweating and urinating. So drinking water soon after waking up is helpful to revocer and have a fresh start. This product is a combination of cup and alarm clock, aiming to remind users of drinking water after they wake up, which could help them keep a healthy habit.

Nowadays, even though there are bunch of devices could record our lives, such as cameras and drones, but none of them could take the picture from look-up view. So I came up with Rolling Cam, which could connect people together and record these memorable moments from a unique view.

Security Gate Identity Security System 2016.4 Commissioned Project
Commissioned Project By:
Daxing is a splendid manufacturer foucsing on ticket gates in Shenzhen, China. These years, there were increasingly number of security events in border areas, which demanding more security forces. This project aims to design a new type of security gate that capture photos while scanning ID cards to check if it matches to each other. These new type of gates will be applied in airports and railway stations. In order to cut the cost, the outcome will be an attachment to existing ticket gate.
