Natural Strategies

1 "REVERSING PORT" THU Master Final Thesis Project, 2016 Biomimicry Urbanism Design Biomimicry is a revolutionary new science that analyzes nature’s best ideas. Through strategies based on biomimicry it is possible to study evolutionary processes occurring in nature for subsequent application to architecture. From this point of view evolution could be understood as an adaptive process. So the future phases or developments are not preset. The phases will adapt to future demands through a growth system from small to large scale, from a small building to a great density system. The city is not built anymore only with large operations but instead with all possible scales that can adapt to future requirements.

Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature time-tested patterns and strategies. The goal is to create products, processes, and policies new ways of living that are well-adapted to life on earth over the long haul.

2 "PLUG-IN MĂ–KK" Urbanism Archi-Design Project Competition, 2017 When we first committed the idea of designing the project of Jyvaskyla, we understood the specific we had to be on this site. Therefore we started making an overall analysis of what surrounds the city and its livings in terms of weather conditions, demographic data, culture and overall needs. To come up with the issues of the site we first revised the objectives that were considered in order to be successful. The main objectives are densification, strengthen the areas vitality, implement different housing typologies, and offering solutions not only for the MNOP building but also for the traffic and parking issues.

We have been implementing ideas based on these issues, trying to maintain an order, that is why all the questions are answered in this project, and that is how we are going to develop our digital document, answering one by one all the question that the competition organization offered.

Space Syntax .Space syntax is a

science-based, human-focused approach that investigates relationships between spatial layout and a range of social, economic and environmental phenomena. These phenomena include patterns of movement, awareness and interaction; density, land use and land value; urban growth and societal differentiation; safety and crime distribution.

3 "HEALING MARKET" The Food Botanical Garden Of Seed project, 2016 Taichung central area is an ill city which is gradually declined since serval years ago. The most important issue is how to create a new urban blueprint. Consdering the traffic, urban and local elements, local ingredients is such a great chance for Taichung.

Content architecture portfolio

Walking is the most suitable way for visitors to explore Taichung central area. Thus I design two main walking routes, one is starting from the site to the hospital and then end at the Second Market. This direction of the route would make more people come to the market which facilitates the economy. Besides, the second route is extent from Taichung park to the base which combines unoccupied area and public space in order to facilitate the people to walk.

Recently, the problems of food safety has been happened years and years. As mention above, food safety is the biggest concern for every person. So if Taichung can provide healthy food to people, let people realize the source of the food, and even use healthy food to heal the body and mental problem, then this may be a great opportunity for Taichung to active again.

4 "DISEÑO PARAMÉTRICO" Digital Fabrictaion Panel Design, 2017 The basis of the parametric design is the generation of geometry from the definition of a family of initial parameters and the programming of the formal relations that they keep between them. Consists in the use of variables and algorithms to generate a tree of mathematical and geometric relations that allow not only to arrive at a design, but to generate the whole range of possible solutions that the variability of the initial parameters allow us.

Parametric thinking introduces the change of mentality between the search for a static and concrete formal end, and the conscientious design of the factors and stages that we use to reach it. It is the use of algorithms and advanced computational means not to draw forms, but to create formal possibilities.

Started to let each line pinpoints and all the need is to write the list on this panel. Use the way to build the complex double layer panel. All units are different and have been designed, the wood board are using the laser cutter to make units. Built the complex double layer panel transfer from the layout.

5.21-5.22 BioA Lab “ In Taiwanese culture, there is a very specific sensitivity for plants, which I’ve not encountered in other cultures. And I think a very iconic example is the way plants are put on the streets in Taiwan, in cities. Trying to see how we can bring in traditional Taiwanese culture elements. We do have a few things that we collected, that we might integrate, a few old artefacts. That represent older Taiwanese culture, those artefacts we might integrate into the structure at a later stage.

"BIOMODD [TAI8]" National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts Projects, 2016 Biomodd is a multifaceted socially engaged art installation that finds meaningful relationships between biology, computers and people. On the most basic level, Biomodd creates symbiotic relationships between plants and computer technology, and ignites conversations among the community around them. 5.11-5.13This open source project was conceived by Belgian biologist-turned-artist and Senior TED Fellow Angelo Vermeulen. The first Biomodd was Biomodd [ATH1] in Athens, Ohio, which was built between September 2007 and January 2008, and then nominated for the Prix Ars Electronica Hybrid Art award in 2008. He and fellow collaborators have brought Biomodd to a number of different countries throughout the world. Biomodd since traveled to the Philippines, Slovenia, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands, New York, Germany, Kosovo, Taiwan, and London, with new Biomodd projects in the works for Iran and India.

Mange the composting time and quality effectivly.

Compost Unit Air vascular system of cockroach

"HOME FOOD GARBAGE DECOMPOSER" Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, 2nd Place Winner A great deal of global food garbage is generated every year, which accounts for over 10% of the total food supply per year. In Taichung City, most of food waste is dealt with by incineration, landfill, compost, and pig feed. During the transporting and processing, a lot of pollution and food safety issues are highly debated. How to deal with the numerous food garbage comes to be a considerably thorny problem. Based on the cycle of food system, our design is focusing on the impacts to climate change, environment pollution and land use influenced by the process that food garbage returns to the soil nutrients through the decomposition of eco-system. To solve the problems and stop pollution from the source, the concept of home decomposer comes out. Through the biological functions and strategies filtering , those are chosen to be imitated in our design that the breath system of cockroaches ,the air circulation system of termites’ nest, the structure to isolate carbon dioxide of cocoon and the high-efficiency space-use of honeycomb.

Each compost unit with it's own data loads food garbage produced in that day and all units compose a space system inspired by the structure of honeycomb. After long time composting, the mature manuel in the unit could be prodived for planting, meanwhile freash food garbage could be add into it for next round.
