EXPERIENCE
Hello,
07/2018 - 05/2020
My name is Yuxiang Wang. I am a 2016 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with M. Arch degree. In additional to my academic qualification, I have nearly three years working experience in professional field. I am writing to apply for an entry-level position. Over the two years I have worked as an Architectural Designer at Overland Partners in San Antonio, Texas. During these period, I have had the opportunity to work through a variety scales of projects from SD to CA phases. Not only design itself, but also cooorprate with civil, engineer and contractor, which helped me fill the gap between academic study and practical experiences after I graduated. More importantly, working with many talented colleagues expand my visions and motivated myself to achieve a higher standard.
Lijiang Stone Island Main focus on "Water" theme hotel and the surrounding landscape design. Cooperate with Chinese clients and be responsible for translating. Blue Lake Pavilion Go through from Schematic Design to Construction Adminstration. Prepare field report and cooperate with contractor to refine the deviation. 05/2017 - 06/2018

Blue Lake Pavilion - Overland Partners (SD - CA) The Blue Lake Pool Pavilion is a recreational building that is auxiliary to the private client’s existing home. This building is designed for its specific Texas Hill Country landscape and situated on Lake LBJ surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and native trees. The program includes a great room for gathering, dining and entertainment, a restroom with shower, a small kitchen & bar, and storage room for pool floats and accessories. The project site includes a jacuzzi & pool built into a twolevel terrace that steps up the sloping terrain toward the pavilion with an expansive view of the lake.By extroverting the simplicity and natural beauty of the structure to the landscape, the Blue Lake Pavilion creates a sense of harmony and relaxation.
Lijiang Stone Island (Yunnan, China) Schematic Design Overland Partners Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage city, has been continuously inhabited for eight hundred years. It is a city “frozen in time” with stunning mountain vistas and historically significant architecture organized along three rivers giving it shape and character. Any new development in the Lijiang area would be judged by how well it complemented the world-famous Old Town, and efforts at a thoroughly modern “new town” had yet to come to fruition, continuously falling short of local, regional, and national ideals. When the client approached Overland, they hoped that the firm’s own location in a city rich with legacy and a successful river walk would give them the sensitivity and vision needed to find an elegant solution.
Village at Spanish Oaks, Bee Cave Overland Partners (Masterplan) The VSO masterplan consists of several parcels. Buildings are defined as either “archetypal” or “symbolic” buildings. Symbolic buildings are few in number and include especially prominent buildings due to their location or use. All other buildings are considered “archetypal” buildings. Archetypal buildings occupy almost all of the street frontages in the Village at Spanish Oaks and will provide most of the street definition.

FOOTBALL TRAINING
ISU Student - Athlete Performance Center Master plan Substance Architecture
FOOTBALL TRAINING
The primary aim of this project is to thoughtfully respond to the wellbeing of all student athletes – to assist in their continued success – both on and off the field. Each piece of the Master Plan introduces programmatic functions that prioritize sustenance of mind and body. Subsequently, the need to implement performative improvements also presents opportunities to enhance the fan experience on the north side of Jack Trice Stadium. The team conducted site analysis to determine where each of the five (5) major programmatic components could fit. This approach was blended with an understanding of the existing geometries of Jack Trice Stadium, Jacobson, and Bergstrom. It was determined that integration of new construction would benefit from expanding on the idea of the loggia (porch) entry points and responding to the roofline of Jacobson.

NEGATIVE MEMORY - PHOTOGRAPHY MUSEUM Instructor:Adrian Luchini
27.5’
Memory usually comes as a form of “ picture”. Unlike literature or music, photography provide an accessible connection. People may have their own memory responding to the same topic. negative photography not only provide a chance for audience, but also create a stronger detect for photographer themselves. The Photography Museum located in the central field. Hide itself in forest park. The mirrored column stuff provides a blur – clear process. The goal not only designs a museum for photography, but also establish a strong link to people. And people may find their precious memory.

Natural Shelter ďź? Rehablitation Hospital Instructor: Jeff Ryan The idea comes from the site itself. Nature makes the site already a shelter. What I did is try to make this atmosphere more clear. Capture the atmosphere connected by a courtyard. When courtyard located underground, the whole building create a three-side open space to the site which remains the same site quality. Patients would be offered a better environment which contains more atmospheres. One part of the hospital connects to the landscape, the roof system varied responding to the site. Connect to the "forest" in high elevation or folding to be one part of walls inserting to ground. The chapel is a pure natural space. Patients see, hear and feel the nature, also respond to their heart at the same time. The hospital contains conflicts, the site comes to an antidote.
CITY LINK - URBAN LIBRARY Instructor: Sungho Kim
AUTISTIC PATIENTS' HOUSING Instructor: Sungho Kim
The site located in an intricate area urban residence & highway. The idea is to make huge book shelfs which dominate the site and establish a connection between city scale and dwelling site. The huge bookshelfs already divided the library into several collections. Vi s i t o r s w o u l d h a v e a d y n a m i c experience by "climbing" one block to another. Which makes a strong comparison between vertical circulation interior and horizontal circulation outside.
The housing is for two autistic patients, which located in a narrow site. The curving frame not only makes the house “float” but also blurs the individual space. Which contribute to a causal meet. The patients would make their own choice for the next step rather than self-isolated at the first time.
RHYTHMIC MOVEMENT ďź? URBAN OVERPASS Nanchang is a charming city for visitors, it is limited to the pictures. While all citizens should be involved in the modification of the poor neighborhood and experience the process of modernism. The inspiration is from the painting of flying Apsaras in Dunhuang Grottoes. The characteristics of flying fairles' clothes and conceptualized them into curve sketches. Then considerating the curve forms fit into the atmosphere and environment of the places by integrating the curves with the places.
