Design Portfolio Wu, I-Ling Most of the time, the real problems are not about “design”, it may be people, money or circumstances. If we didn’t find the real question, we will never get the right answer.

Social phenomena are constructed by culture and history and both of these items are ignored in Taiwan. Capitalism forces people to choose money, residents should figure out a gentle balance and make good use of technology, strategies and culture characteristics.

After graduation, had worked for Wunderman Advertising Network as a CRM Account Executive. The main customer is Samsung Taiwan and I was in charge of implemented e-mail testing, online surveys and customer segmentation . I also developed a suite of win-back, retention and renewal campaigns that extended lifecycles. After about a year I had learned how to run a project, communicate with customers and build relations, I started to realise that compared to sitting in an office, controlling my own time schedule would let me learn more.

I then become a freelancer, with my first project being an exhibition for a design magazine. It was a professional design magazine and had published a special issue. To communicate with readers and promote the only design magazine published by a Taiwan company, had held an event at Huashan1914. This was the largest wine production centre in Taiwan in the 1920’s and after renovation it has become an organic creative environment. Along with a book fair, the exhibition also mentioned how magazines impact on our life, even though social medial prospers, paper magazines still unshakable, especially for some special subjects.

Yeng Pin Nr. Road 789 The story of an old town.

Project started in the winter of 2014, Yeng Pin Nr. Road is a main road of an historical town in Taipei. About 50 years ago, a searious flood struck this town and the cost of the damage is impossible to quantify. Not only houses were destroyed also hundreds of people died. Government made a policy of prohibit construction in this town. Time has past, there is no more flood but leave beautiful old houses and tradiotional culture. Our objective is to preserve the traditional culture and hoistory of this town.

Step1. Field Research We had interviewed the residents who had experienced the serious flooding and the young children who live here. Also walked around the streets, tried to find out the symbol of this town and their unique lifestyle.

Step2. Set up our goal After field researched, we had intergrated the things to do: 1. Create the characteristic of the village 2. Create an attractoin 3. Marketing 4. Promoting traditional festivals

Step3. Posters / Brochure We had imaged of five main topic: Temple, People, Water, History, Architect. Using delightful illustrations to attract young generations, also rise residents' self-identity. All of images were mixed factors which belong to this village, we had walked through all alleys to find the elements. After researched, there are some main factors we had emphasized in illustrations, for example hut, trees, traditional grocery stores and paper cut for window decoration. Before we determined these five main topics, we also had tried to create a mascot, however there were some arguments that resident

Step4. Graffiti Street art is a simple and effective way to immerse local culture. We had collected several symbols to paint on wall, by means of childlike paintings to shorten the distance with residents.

Step5. Marketing To increase the attention by public, we constructed a website which introduced the attacitons and history of the village. Also, not only focusing on Yeng Pin Nr. Road, we invited some professionals to discussed the issue of culture preservation and social design by puclished aricles on online magazines.

Lantern Festival 2016 The Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations, and usually falls on some day in February or March in the Gregorian calendar.

Lantern Festival 2016 - Visaul Design As time goes by, Latern Festival generally lost its original connotaion but become only fomalities. Luckily, this old village still preserve some important traditions. To the teenagers like us who had never experienced such tradition spirits were totoally attracted by its history and tried to reannounced its meaning by re-design its visual and promote on social media.

Dragon Boat Festival 2016 Dragon Boat Festival is a Chinese traditional festival, three of the most widespread activities conducted during the Duanwu Festival are eating (and preparing) zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats. Top Speed Roadside Assistance App Top Speed is a company which provide the super car insurance in Taiwan. In 2016, they presented a new service which is roadside assistance for the users who have super car. In this project, i needed to survey the users and investigated there demand. After investigation, i had to build up the construction and designed wireframe also communicated with designer and engineers.

Baxter Medical SDM System Baxter is a compnay which increasingly, healthcare providers need more than just products. They are also looking for partners in meeting the challenges of providing better healthcare, to more patients, quickly and cost-effectively. Shared decision-making (SDM) is an approach in which clinicians and patients communicate together using the best available evidence when faced with the task of making decisions.Baxter has cooperated with different hospital in Taiwan and promoted this concept positively these years. Our mission is to design a system which available for both hosptial and patients.

circle graphic design zine A zine which tries to change the circumstance of design.

Circle is an independent design journal which found in Taiwan focusing on the knowledge of graphic design, and the reason to create this journal is to educate students and improve the design in Taiwan. The content has divided into several different topics, such as editorial, typographic, CIS, branding and so on, also invited designers from all around the world to write articles.

SoulDays Studio is a music experiment studio which found in Taiwan. Its main Instrument is Handpan, born in Swizerland, has mystery sound. To discription the mystery and characteristic of Handpan, mixed circle seal and chinese into identity. Also, the music is ever-changing, sometimes elegant and sometimes strong.

The pronunciation of " č’? " is as same as "soul", also means collection, seek and spring hunt. To combine with different factors such as Handpan and audio frequency. Also extend some different visual of audio frequency in the middle of logo.

Waley Art is a local gallery which provide pace to local artist, Ja Na Art Festival is one of exhibion it hold this year. Objective of art festival is to preservation and reuse of Bo-Pi-Liao Historic District. We had present the historical and characteristic of the district.

It's a local brand which found by a group of grandmother, they use nature resources to dyeing bags. The way to dye is found by a research report, after experimented few times they finally succeed. To show the source of colourant, had illustrated animals and trees.
