MODUL ARCHITECTURE

Every street in China is full of various takeout electric bicycles. Intensity and rapidity are the main causes of the current high incidence of traffic accidents. This involves many aspects, including delivery man squeezed by the system and delivery times, customers controlled by capital and information, and restaurants with hygiene problems. It seems that delivery man is a free job. But it is trapped everywhere in fact. Delivery man needs to bear the double pressure from customers and merchants every day. In order to deliver food within the prescribed time, they have to move faster than the speed limit in the city. Even when they take a break at noon, they will gather electric bicycles at the intersection because there is no suitable place to rest, which not only affects traffic, but also raises safety hazards. Nowadays, some businesses are also facing a variety of difficulties. High rents have led some businesses that only provide takeout services to locate in office buildings with less-thanperfect firefighting facilities or other less-than-ideal locations. In this way, although potential safety hazards are guaranteed, food hygiene is no longer the focus of attention. Therefore, I want to provide delivery man with a resting space through my own design, so as to ensure their safety during the rest. I also want to provide a hygienic and safe food preparation environment for the merchants, so that delivery man can reduce the time to pick up the food as much as possible. In addition, I am still thinking of a more convenient and quick takeout delivery method under special circumstances.

The relationship between the customer and the delivery man is unequal.

Consumers gradually become impatient with waiting for food.

New takeout order processing mode

The northeast section of Zhangyang Road is close to Century Avenue and Lujiazui, which guarantees a certain amount of traffic and takeout demand. Both sides of the road are mostly low residential buildings with wide sidewalks, which not only provides additional takeout demand, but also has little impact on the buildings on both sides of the road. At the same time, the traffic flow on Zhangyang Road is relatively small compared to other roads. Taking into account the above circumstances, the northeast section of Zhangyang Road is selected as the final site for the construction of the pilot.

As can be seen from the above two pictures, both traditional and takeout restaurants are closely integrated with the urban business districts. Takeout restaurants are more evenly distributed than traditional restaurants. In addition, takeout restaurants are not completely consistent with the city’s commercial center, and there is a certain dislocation phenomenon. Therefore, the first-tier business district in the third-tier area is an excellent takeout “second-tier space”.

Convenient for merchants to add and reduce

In the traditional takeout model, orders are sent to the delivery man and the merchants via the platform. Through the systematic calculation, delivery man usually receives multiple orders and then goes to various merchants to pick up the goods for unified distribution. Since the merchants are distributed in different locations, there are problems such as unprepared meals after delivery man arrives at the store or difficulty in finding the location of the merchants, resulting in shortened delivery time. Faced with such situation, delivery man has to violate traffic regulations to speed up the delivery. Through this project, the processing mode of takeout orders changes. By gathering merchants together, the time required for delivery man to go to the merchants is significantly reduced, which alleviates the burden of delivery man to a certain extent. For another thorny issue, namely extreme weather, new methods of distribution are adopted. In addition, the rest module not only provides the delivery man with a place for daily rest and communication, but also can be a shelter for the delivery man in extreme weather.
