Background Born in 1992, growing up in Yun-lin, a county at the center of Taiwan. I am the eldest child among the five people in my family. Since I was always very naughty, my parents worried about me constantly. However, what accompanied my curiosity was my ability to concentrate on whatever I was interested in. I am thankful to my parents for letting me have the freedom to pursue my passion.
Academic My academic pursuit was not any different from everybody else, except that I really like to go to bookstores and libraries. Right now, I am studying in National Taipei University of Technology, majoring in Industrial Design. Some may ask me why study design? I would say it has a lot to do with my interest in reading, especially design and art related books. You can even say that bookstores and libraries are my second school! As I once read from Dieter Rams, “Less, but better. This simple and well-known sentence has influenced me a lot. I am a ambitious person and I want to achieve a lot of things, but this has made me realize that it is impossible to control everything at the same time. In turn, I understand how important it is to be in the moment to experience it all. This also influenced the way I think and work, making me put an effort on making each detail the best I can, while enjoying the process of achieving it!
Workshop and Exhibition Experience I enjoy visiting all kinds of art and design related exhibition; I like to see new things, to break through from traditions, and to create new ideas that is out of general grasp. I believe what makes life interesting is to find boring things and make them interesting. I also like to participate in workshops to broaden my experience, especially on things that I normally don’t get to encounter and to meet professionals from different fields. Learn from doing is much more useful than plain imagining. We have to try all kinds of things, to make mistakes and to learn from them.
