To develop a bike from first concept to functioning prototype to series production demands clearly structured work processes. It takes a team effort to get the job done. We rely on an incredible amount of people, from testers such as professional cyclists to engineers as well as customers like you, to contribute their knowledge, their thoughts on how to improve on a product as well as what they’d like to see down the line. Countless ideas are collected for every new bike project. Each and every one is addressed – either approved, discarded or improved upon step by step before rigorous testing can begin. We then build every bike in our in-house laboratories using cutting edge software and state-of-the-art machinery. All of this magic happens in Hamburg. This is why “designed and engineered in Hamburg” is printed on all of our bicycles.

This is why our lights turn on every morning for the last 25 years – and often go out late at night.

A product is only as good as the conditions under which it is made. This is why our developers have everything they need at their fingertips from state-of-the-art hardware to cutting edge software. Machines and test benches. Choice of material and lab equipment. Our developers are also given ample time for extensive test rides as well as the freedom to rethink the most solidly proven methods so we stay one step above the competition.

Shared know-how is worth exponentially more. That’s why STEVENS engineers work in cooperation with certified specialists and trusted partners. They are constantly in search of establishing and fostering contacts for collaborations on creative innovations. Even the tiniest of these innovations can make a world of difference to the rider. One such innovation is a pannier rack that was created in cooperation with the experts at Tubus. This rack is supported by the bicycle frame, while the struts are hidden below the fender for both a clean look and a stable ride. The goal of our collaboration with Buch+Müller is yet another example. Together we created a head light that blends in perfectly with the suspension fork. In cooperation with SR Suntour, we introduced thru-axles in the suspension forks of our pedelecs and disc brake bikes for added stiffness and safety. There are, of course, innovations that we create fully in-house if existing products do not meet our high quality demands. For our rigid aluminum forks, we developed our own form-fitting mounting bracket that is held securely in place by two bolts to prevent twisting. Our adjustable dropouts securely hold the rear wheel in position on hub-geared bikes.

NEVER STOP! There can only be one motto for somebody having their roots in cycling like we do: Keep going until you have reached the finish line – and ideally you are the first to reach it. We test in-house and work with state-of-the-art hardware and software. To make sure the results are perfect. At least until we start to question our ideas again and improve some details – according to our guiding principle: “Never stop”. That this attention to detail makes perfect sense has shown in numerous awards in magazine tests, in satisfied dealers and in loyal customers.

QUALITY CONTROL CONSISTENCY AND INDEPENDENCE There are two characteristics that STEVENS bikes are known for – lightweight and extremely durable. We’ll let you in on a little secret – we succeed in combining these seemingly opposing characteristics by developing, then testing, testing and more testing. And the testing continues well past the final phase where our engineers are applying their finishing touches to their masterpieces, straight through to serial production. We continuously monitor our stock production to ensure that it remains at the same high quality level as our prototype. This is why we do not separate development from production, as it is all part of the same continuous process. This is also why our designers are personally involved in and responsible for the assurance of quality in serial production.

INDEPENDENT EXPERTISE

SELF AWARENESS

We may be our own harshest critics, but just to be sure we call on outside help when it comes to quality control. We rely on certified engineer Dirk Zedler from “Zedler Institute for Bicycle Technology and Safety”. He is publicly appointed, a sworn bicycle expert and an esteemed consultant of the bicycle sector for decades.

STEVENS employees are experts in their jobs as most of them are avid cyclists themselves. The cycling levels of our employees range from grocery shopping with a kid’s trailer in tow, to avid cyclists at the competitive level. We even have an in-house masters cyclocross World Champion. It surely helps our development engineers to have direct access to colleague feedback, that’s often shared over lunch on a daily basis. The environment at STEVENS is a warm, open one where we can easily share stories of our rides and experiences with each other.

Thanks to his support we are perfectly clear on our STEVENS products’ quality levels. Not only does he test our individual products like frames (both carbon fiber and aluminum models), forks, seatposts, and wheels but also tests them in the exact combination that they are assembled on each of our bike models. By knowing our numbers, we can be both light and durable at the same time.

HAND IN HAND LOCATION GERMANY We confidently stand behind our first class suppliers from all over the world. Yet we claim that the biggest part of STEVENS bikes’ added value is that they are created in Germany. More than 60% of our bikes are assembled in Germany, and at least 85% within the European Union. We assemble all STEVENS wheels ourselves. We have installed a successful Custom Bike Program that makes us market leader in customized racing bikes and cyclocross bikes in Germany - “Made in Hamburg”, of course.

If a Hanseatic citizen has come to like someone, he or she becomes a member of the extended family. Long-term, trusted partnerships are very important to us. Many of our suppliers are business partners that produce in Germany.

For twelve months a year, we travel on German and European roads, trails and cycling paths. We rely on a network of 600 specialist retailers in Germany alone, all of whom are ahead of their competition by more than a wheel length in terms of competence and service. We maintain relations with countless loyal customers from whom we’ve received varied and valuable feedback…well before the advent of social media.

For instance, the innovative lighting for our city and trekking bikes comes from Busch + Müller located in Meinerzhagen, in the Sauerland region. From the town of Sundern, also in Sauerland, we get our SKS mudguards. And Pinion, located in Denkendorf, Germany, provides us with innovative 18-speed and 9-speed gearboxes that are real milestones on the path to a longer-lasting bicycle. The legendary Speedhub, a transmission hub that will get you to the end of the world if you want to go there, is made by Rohloff in Kassel. And our pedelecs get their smooth, strong power from motors made by Bosch whose main office is located in Gerlingen.

This is how we are acutely aware of the requirements as well as the demands of the highly discerning German bicycle market. With this knowledge we can deliver on their wishes. CHAMPIONS WORLD CHAMPIONS OF TODAY AND TOMORROW

Since its foundation in 1991 STEVENS has been closely connected to the sport of cycling. This is because our founders, Werner and Wolfgang von Hacht, themselves were competitive cyclists. Therefore it was self-evident to support other athletes in the best possible way and with personal commitment – from the pro squad to cycling project in Hamburg schools. We support numerous teams and athletes on national and international level. Successful ’Cross, road racing and mountain bike teams as well as triathletes ride STEVENS bikes. In return their feedback is incorporated into the development of our bikes.

1 World Champion at last! In the last couple of years Sanne Cant (Enertherm-Beobank) always has been the most successful female ’cross rider of the season: Multiple wins in Belgium, overall winner of the most important race series, European Champion … the only title missing was World Champion. End of January 2017 at the World Championship race in Bieles, Luxemburg it seemed at first she would come in ”only” second. But in a thrilling duel for the finish line with Marianne Vos she eventually prevailed on her STEVENS Super Prestige. 2 Attacking on technical climbs are MTB pro Sören Nissen’s secret of success. in the past season the former Danish Marathon Champion, who now starts for his adopted home country Luxemburg, has won such prestigious international Marathons as ”Hel Van Groesbeek” in the Netherlands, the ”Amblève Légende Marathon” in Belgium and at the Vuelta Ibiza on his STEVENS Sonora SL.

3 What do cyclocross riders do in summer? Speaking for the riders of our Team ERA-Circus they are also successful in the classics and stage races on the road. Laurens Sweeck of ERA-Circus for example rode to solo victory in the GP Monseré (UCI 1.1) on his STEVENS Ventoux. Shortly before, he had just won the final stage of the Triptyques Ardennais – including the overall team classification together with his team mates. 4 When Verena Walter starts in Ironman races, she usually finishes in the top ten. In the bicycle leg of the competition she attacks on her STEVENS Super Trofeo. Like for example in her first victory of the season at the Challenge Taiwan where she faced strong competition. In addition, we also support our dealers in sponsoring successful local athletes. More than 150 competitive cyclists benefit from this program – which already has produced national and world champions.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHTECH-OFFENSIVE For every type of terrain, the 2018 STEVENS models leading the charge are built around hightech frames constructed using high-strength carbon fiber. In close cooperation between engineers and frame manufacturers, the Whaka and Jura Carbon models were brought to production weighing in at up to 900 grams (2lbs) less than their aluminium counterparts. These carbon models deliver an improved trail performance, which is complemented by its carefully selected components coming from our premium suppliers. Component options for our top Sonora models include SRAM 1x12 drivetrain, SHIMANO Deore XT Di2 shifting system with innovative Synchro Shift and Fox super-light Step-Cast fork.

“Goodbye front derailleur” – SRAM initiated this farewell by introducing its Eagle drivetrain to prove that 12 cogs with a single chainring can suffice to conquer the trails of this world. In the rear, this signature cassette offers an enormous gear range of 500%. It is now available in our Sonora models XO, RX and GX.

When the Shimano Di2 screen displays “S1” or “S2”, front and rear derailleur are controlled by a single shift lever. You’ll also be assured you’re in the optimal gear in every kind of riding situation. This is called Synchro Shift and it will amaze you. 4

OPTIMIZED No frame material can be engineered more specifically than carbon when it comes to complex loads during off-road riding. Because of this, STEVENS engineers were able to save lots of weight on our frames while making them stiffer and more precise compared to our aluminium models. The carbon rear triangle alone saves 500 grams (1.1lbs), which is especially interesting for the Whaka and Jura carbon entry models as they are significantly easier on the wallet.

EN-LIGHT-ENED Since the Sonora frame doesn’t even break the 1-kilo mark, Fox’s lightweight-constructed fork is the perfect complement to our marathon machine. Fox incorporates a unique lower leg design and narrow crown spacing into its StepCast model to save weight, barely tipping the scales at a mere 1,350g (3lbs.)

The lightweight aluminium chainstays of the STEVENS fullies are protected by high quality bolt-on protectors to prevent them from being damaged by chain slap. You can even fit a small, clever chain guide under it (such as from Bionicon, available at certified dealers).

The rear stays of all STEVENS fullies comply to the new “Boost” standard with 148mm axle spacing and thru-axle – for good reason. The lateral stiffness of the rear wheel increases by 20% which is especially beneficial for 29ers. It also makes room for larger tires that provide better performance and increased pleasure.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY This is really what determines the functionality of a frameset – if it works or not. This is why STEVENS engineers insist on large cartridge bearings and stiff rear stays. This is also why we have Fox and others adjust the damper on all forks and rear shocks to match it to the bike’s intended terrain. How do you benefit from this? You get marathon fullies with full trail capability, all-mountain bikes that are fun to ride on both sides of the mountain and enduros that excel in efficiency.

GUARANTEED EFFICIENCY Three things are important to our team racers: speed, speed, and speed. On the hardest World Cup circuits, the racers want to benefit from a fully’s speed as well as its secure handling. Since they don’t want any power loss, both fork and rear shock can be instantly locked-out and re-opened via the new Fox remote.

SIMPLE SOLUTION When your goal is a maximum of negative elevation per day, the single chainring on the legendary Race Face Turbine crank is just enough, since most enduro pros usually use shuttles and mountain railways anyway. More important than a climbing gear for them is a bomb-proof chain guide, in this case from E-Thirteen.

CLIMB-ASSIST Yes, the 46-tooth cog is almost as big as the 203mm disc brake rotor on the other side of the rear wheel. This is because we ourselves, just like our ambitious enduro customers, hate to dismount on every nasty climb. The efficient 4-link rear triangle also helps

Despite weighing less than 2,000 grams, the Whaka carbon has a head tube section that not only looks super-strong but indeed delivers impressive torsional stiffness - a prerequisite for unadulterated all-mountain fun. Shifting cables, hydraulic brake housing and dropper post hide inside the STEVENS fully frames â&#x20AC;&#x201C; reducing maintenance while providing a clean look.

CENTRAL PIVOT We brought lots of technology together in a small space: A stiff junction of bottom bracket and rear shock mount, well-supported rear triangle bearings, functional cable routing inside the downtube and chainstays.

DEORE XT “XT“ is the mother of all MTB component groups – and on the Whaka Carbon ES it proves yet again that Shimano knows what mountain bikers want: perfect function in every situation. It is exemplified by its Shadow+ rear derailleur with adjustable chain stabilizer that reliably keeps the chain under control when the trail gets rough. The group’s extremely powerful disc brakes are the perfect complement to the “Complete Deore XT” groupset which is a symbol of quality.

CONTROL AND PRECISION The responsive and precise steering of the Fox 34 Float suspension fork, in collaboration with the high-quality 27.5” DT Swiss wheels and special Schwalbe Fat Albert front tire, handles even the most technical slalom over the toughest trails with ease.

We meticulously dialed in the Whaka Carbon’s kinematics for best performance on the trail. Very well assisted by suspension technology from market leader Fox to ensure 100% control over any terrain. With a 34 Float fork at the front and a Float DPS cartridge at the rear, each with 150mm of travel.

INTEGRATED FUTURE No, this is not a “cable pull” but simply a cable. Since we are very convinced that electronic Di2 technology has a great future with MTBs, we have integrated a service port for the battery into the bottom bracket area. Every type of adjustment including preferred shifting speed is performed via the handlebar display or smartphone app.

NOBLESSE OBLIGE We do not know a more refined 120mm fork than the Fox 32 in the Factory version with sophisticated coating. So we trust in it to take the lead when our trail rocket hits the World Cup circuit.

POWER CENTER

Powerful disc brakes demand optimal requirements, especially for use on an ultra-light road bike, to make the most of their fantastic qualities. This is why our disc racing bikes incorporate flat-mount technology and strong 12mm thru-axles.

This bottom bracket area is all about propelling you forward. The generously dimensioned press fit bottom bracket, as well as the voluminous intersection of down tube, seat tube and chain stays, add to its highest lateral stiffness. This guarantees for direct power transfer from the pedal onto the road – no watt left behind.

COMFORT GUARANTEED Seat stays that are sleek yet functional. They contribute to the new Comet’s noticeable comfort by adding vertical compliance. You’ll quickly appreciate this most when your ride is longer or harder than planned, which basically means all the time.

IT’S IN THE HEAD STEVENS engineers were only pleased when the new Comet frame was finally lighter and at the same time stiffer than its already very competitive predecessor. Also the elegantly tapered steerer tube is not only a thing of beauty, but offers less wind resistance which counts when the heat is on and you’re going for the finish line.

TECHNOLOGY LUST FOR TECHNOLOGY For our carbon and aluminium race machines, STEVENS engineers were allowed to go all-out and convert all their know-how into superlatives on skinny tires. In the Custom Program you can build the feather-weight Comet frame into a personalized dream bike. The Arcalis Disc delivers the optimal mix of aero performance and reliable disc braking. The new Comet Disc continues the trend towards disc brakes on road bikes. The Xenon Di2 almost shifts on its own via electronic 2x11-speed group. STEVENS customers can now also go all-out on their carbon and aluminium race machines to put their lust for speed into action.

To be honest, the brake disc with its black cooling vents looks just as cool as designer rims on a sports car. It is also just as powerful, as you’ll immediately feel when you pull the brake lever with authority on the first outing with your new disc racer. Form follows function – or was it the other way round?

The rider of this STEVENS Comet, components hand-picked using the Custom Program, has indeed opted for mechanical shifting. Despite the advent of electronic shifting, classic technology has certainly not become obsolete. Au contraire – even with the 11-speed, function and reliability are still top-notch.

It took SRAM a bit more time than SHIMANO to develop their electronic shifting system but their RED eTAP shifting components actually do away with wires. The shifters are controlled by wireless signal. As you can imagine, the frame is as tidy as ever.

The new Ultegra crankset doesn‘t only look impressive, but it rides impressively as well. When you add SHIMANO’s electronic Di2 for maximum shifting precision, your skinny-wheeled pleasure knows no limits.

WEIGHT LOSS When a STEVENS frame says “Carbon Superlight” on the outside, it means that there’s not a lot inside – weight, that is. The frame-fork set of the Xenon Di2 weighs in at less than 1,200 grams. The complete road bike with full Shimano Ultegra Di2 group and lightweight Citec Accelerator wheels is only barely above the UCI weight limit of 6.8kg (15lbs). No wonder our pro athletes are so successful. The Xenon has also won quite a few magazine tests.

CLASSIC BRAKES Yes, there are indeed some Tour de France pros that have converted to disc brakes. But no, good old rim brakes are certainly not ready for their museum debut…especially when they are designed as compact and stiff as the new powerful Ultegra brakes.

At first glance, it may only look like aero fairings for head tube and stem, but there’s more to it. A container for 0.75 liters (26oz.) of energy drink, including a hose whose drinking valve is fixed via magnet for optimal reach. When you’re flying over the legendary IRONMAN Hawaii’s scorching hot tarmac, you’ll quickly appreciate this small but valuable attention to detail.

WELL HIDDEN The brakes of the new Volt time trial frame are well hidden from view thanks to bolt-on covers. These covers also hide them from headwinds for decreased wind resistance so you can ride you way to a new personal best.

CENTRAL INTEGRATION The chainstays behind the bottom bracket on the new Volt are very voluminous – for a reason. We smartly use this space to neatly house the TRP rear brake for a reduction in wind resistance. At first glance, you’ll see we’ve nicely achieved this goal.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL We do not know any aero cockpit that offers a wider yet more precise adjustment range than the Aeria Ultimate from Profile Design – it is simply a bike fitter’s dream. In collaboration with our development partner from TRP, we have hidden the Super Trofeo’s integrated brakes from the wind so well that they indeed only slow you down if you really want them to. The front brake neatly hugs the back legs of the aero fork, while the brake cable – just like with a V-brake – comes down its backside. The new full carbon fork of the Super Prestige weighs less than 400 grams â&#x20AC;&#x201C; while providing reassuring stiffness, lots of tire clearance and elegant routing of the hydraulic line inside the fork leg. The ultra-stiff QR12 thru-axle cannot wait for the flat mount disc brake to spring into action.

FULL-THROTTLE AHEAD In the super tough sport of cyclocross, you go nothing but full-throttle for about an hour. The frame has to withstand brute forces, transferring them without any loss directly to the rear wheel. Because of this, the new Super Prestige has such a massive bottom bracket area. Its size increases its strength and fully supports its integrated press fit bottom bracket.

POWERFLOW While the transition of downtube to seatstays may look quite elegant, this design is what provides optimum power transfer from head tube to rear wheel. In addition, the top tube is uniquely shaped so that the frame can comfortably be shouldered during the inevitable running sections.

THE NAME IS THE GAME When a ‘cross bike comes with the label “STEVENS”, race success is an obligation rather than an option. Be it road cycling, cross riding or mountain biking: the bike has to fit the rider. Otherwise there’s a little pinch here, a little ache there – if you spend a lot of time racing you will soon realize when there are a few millimeters too little or too many between saddle, pedals or handlebar. Because of this we offer our Custom Program with lots of options for personalized adjustments. This is why STEVENS bikes are only available at authorized dealers, where you get qualified advice and where your bike is adjusted exactly to your required measurements. It is only when your bike fits like a custom tailored suit that it will be your trusted companion for many kilometers to come.

COMFORT TUNING

MOUNTAIN BIKE WHEEL SIZES

STEVENS mountain bikes are available in four to six finely incremented sizes, road bikes in seven or eight. A well-fitting frame size is the basis for a bike that fits. Size alone, though, is not everything that matters. It is only on a test ride that you will see if it also fits in reach. This is the main reason why qualified advice from a local dealer remains so important. The dealer can adapt the bike to your needs with options such as different saddles, several stem lengths and handlebar shapes. It Is often the seemingly unimportant components that can influence your sitting position. Find out more at your local bike dealer!

Wide tires offer better cushioning. This is why STEVENS mountain bikes feature lots of tire clearance and are spec'd with wide tires. Our road bikes are increasingly equipped with 25 mm tires. They roll with less resistance than narrower ones. At the rider-handlebar interface, thick bar tape dampens road shocks. STEVENS bikes are constructed to accommodate 27.2 mm diameter seatposts. To make the post fit, we taper the seat tube which is very wide at the bottom bracket for more stiffness so that it can become thinner towards the saddle. These posts are more flexible, hence more comfortable, than 31.6 mm oversized seatposts at the rider-saddle interface.

27.5" or 29" wheels – we offer both, depending on frame size, for best possible handling. In frame sizes 18" or larger, most hardtails and fullys are spec'd with 29" wheels that smooth out obstacles and roll very calmly. Bikes with frame sizes 16" or smaller are equipped with proportionally matching 27.5" wheels. This system is also applied on mountain bikes for children and youth with wheels up to 20". Only all-mountain and enduro bikes generally offer best riding characteristics and agility on 27.5".

Take your time for a test ride. You want your new bike to be a companion for many years to come, after all! Try to ride exactly those kinds of routes you wish to use your new STEVENS bike on. Be sure to try other similar models, as well as those cheaper and more expensive, to compare. This way youâ&#x20AC;&#x2DC;ll get the most clear overview of our level of technology as well as what your bike has to offer.

By having your STEVENS bike maintained on a regular basis, you will keep it safely rolling for many years. Parts that suffer wear and tear, like chain and brake pads, have to be changed regularly. Gear hubs and suspension forks are subject to specified maintenance schedules.

STEVENS bikes can also be leased. Instead of a car companies can also offer a company bicycle or pedelec to their employees. This also applies to sports bikes. After your employer has given his approval, you chose your favourite STEVENS bike, pay a monthly rate during the leasing period (usually three years) and even profit from a lower price due to tax benefits.

If you prefer a certain type of saddle, bar grips or pedals, your dealer can change these parts for you. You can also use a longer or shorter stem to further adjust your seating position to best suit your riding style. This kind of service is what defines a dedicated dealer and this translates into extra benefit for you on every ride you go on.

Should a material defect ever occur, the original owner is protected by the STEVENS warranty for the duration of five years. This comprehensive protection covers all defects in material or workmanship either on the frame or components that bear the STEVENS name, no matter what (frame) material.

In case your valuable carbon road or mountain bike frame has been irreparably damaged in a crash, you as the original buyer are eligible to purchase a replacement frame at a special 50 % discount. Willful damages or damages caused by negligence are excluded from this program.
