Whether it’s a pre-dawn start for a summit ascent or an evening route planning in your tent, a head torch is the outdoor essential you’ll be reaching for. Hands-free lighting that illuminates your way, there are a wide variety of models to choose from.

BRIGHTNESS Measured in lumens, this is the total light output the headtorch can achieve. The higher the lumen rating, the more light that will be emitted and the brighter the light source will appear.

An easy way to compare between head torches is to look at their key stats: BRIGHTNESS, BURN TIME and DISTANCE. But these performance metrics aren’t everything. Depending on what the head torch was made for, a range of lighting modes, beam patterns and extra features will also be available. These play a big part in how suitable the torch is for your chosen activity. To assist with your decision making, we have included an activity overview for each model: from everyday and campsite use through to hiking and trail running.
