FINAL YEAR 2ND SEMESTER PROJECT THEME : CONCEPT BOUTIQUE LEARNING OUTCOME: 1) Interpret issues and design theory to cater for ‘urban fabric’ in designing building and multipurpose activities spaces. 2) Create a design that balances between technology needs as well as aesthetical and technical needs. 3) Combine architectural communication techniques using multiple media comprehensively in creating a complex design.

PROJECT PREAMBLE: In the digital age, malls will need to reinvent themselves. They are the heart and soul of communities, the foundation of retail economies, and a social sanctuary for teenagers everywhere. Effective accessibility and adequate mobility services would be among the keys to encourage sustainable commercial activities for the community particularly the elderly and the urbanites. Commercial building would become the new public spaces in urban areas. Here, the project aims to promote a commercial building that could facilitate influential attributes, such as accessibility, vitality, and diversity/choice as well as places for social activities serving people of various ages, ethnicities, and social groups.

FINAL YEAR 1ST SEMESTER PROJECT THEME : ELDERLY CENTRE LEARNING OUTCOME: 1) Able to translate issues and design theories in environment, sociocultural and technological aspects for producing architectural design. 2) Able to show equilibrium between design and technology needs that could justify aesthetic and technical aspects. 3) Adaptation of architectural communication techniques (verbal, visual, writing) electronically in design ideas presentation.

PROJECT PREAMBLE: Our old age is the result of our environment and the choices we have made. Continuing the life of a resident for elderly is very important. In adhering as a useful citizen, the elderly needed a living environment that can match what they recognized from past and is used from home, hence give them confidence and sense of security. Elderly differ in their leisure activities, social lives and preference. It is necessary to create a special living environment where a resident that give them relaxion, active and spend their free time. Outdoor activities would be important to them as they will fill their routine with their own activities. Socializing is crucial for the elderly to enhance their "minded-being" and isolation.

COMPANY BACKGROUND: Design Collective Architects (DCA) together with their associate design practice Essential Design Integrated (EDI) is a young and vibrant architectural practice based in Malaysia, who's projects thrive on the close collaboration between architects, interior designers, landscapers and users. DCA's design philosophy focuses on the issues and processes concerning customization, creating BESPOKE architecture. As a practice, DCA is process based. The process begins with accumulating a synthesis of site, programme and people. The source of inspiration for a project comes from a special relationship between DCA, their clients and their clients' relationship with their personal circumstances.

SECOND YEAR 2ND SEMESTER (2ND PROJECT) PROJECT THEME : CRAFTOLOGY LEARNING HUB OBJECTIVES: 1) To derive ideas from studies of selected crafts to produce design solutions. 2) To design site planning with consideration of immediate site context and socio-cultural context. 3) To design spaces especially formal & informal public interaction space according to functional requirements. 4) To apply structural/construction solutions and comply to UBBL fire fighting regulations for public building up to 3 storeys high. 5) To implement passive design especially daylighting and acoustics/noise control solutions.

PROJECT PREAMBLE: In tourism industry, one of the most important aspects is culture. People travel around the world to feel and experience others cultures. They explore local attractions, food, perfomances, arts & crafts and many more. In this project, students are to design a Craftology Learning Hub. A centre where local people or visitors can join for a short course or day-course about local crafts. A place where they can learn the history and theory, as well as have hands-on-experience, learning the crafts. This project calls for a specific use building with multiple space design, with focus on the study of selected crafts to be learned by all. The main spaces are the formal and informal learning spaces. The project also focuses on construction technology with daylight 7 acoustic/noise control.

INTERIOR DESIGN (ASSIGNMENT PROJECT)

MAKEOVER : FACULTY RESTROOM


The project aims to produce schematic design and carry out design research for interior design at selected site around Faculty of Design and Architecture University Putra Malaysia The site that has been chosen are the 2 toilets which located at the east wing (first floor) of FRSB The toilets are located near to the Administration and lecturers’ office Hence, these toilets are meant to serve the academic stuffs and lecturers in FRSB The toilets are Male and Female toilet which located next to each other Both toilets have 4 basins, 3 squatting pans and 3 showers each The issues that we observed from the toilets includes, poor ventilation, dim interior, shabby and not enough of WC that must serve a large user Therefore, this project research has explained the details on our schematic design that is possible to be implemented into the toilet in order to solve the issues besides reporting our design process throughout the research
