MUNICIPAL SCHOOL SHRAMIK VASAHAT,PUNE,MAHARASHTRA AREA:7500 Sqm.

In this design studio i tried to respond to these scenarios, exploring the possibilities to facilitate the underprivileged; while shaping an architectural intervention that becomes a role model to operate government schools in the urban areas. Propsed is envisaged that the school will have spaces that are collaborative, interactive, and multi-functional, recognising that built space is a major resource but scarcely available for government schools, requiring innovative design solutions to enable to do more with less, without compromising the functioning. Also investigating greater public expenditure for the state-run schools to fulfil the mandate of ‘Education for All’, reducing those costs, and developing creating innovative design solutions to enable to do more with less, without compromising the functioning, and inducing a sense of delight and play in the learning environment which will entice the children to remain in the school (and not drop out) and motivate the teachers to give their best.

BUILDING WITH CONTEXT The axonometric shows the whole structure of the school where the roofs are created in a manner to create a open courtyard like space in between the classrooms.also placing the classes on different levels using the existing contours to save the cost and also to using it a barrier between the admin, junior and higher education. The school placed on the site shoes the nearby houses, shops etc of pune.

AXONOMETRIC EXPLODED VIEW

The classrooms were designed with keeping in mind the concept for learning mixed with exploration. The classrooms have a common balcony with a green wall ,using the grey water which is reusable waste water from the site. The liabrary was also designed with steppped seating where the space below the steps can be used for storing books. The curvy walls were provided in creating open and closed spaces. One curve is used as a projector space.
