My Name is Sibusiso E. Hlongwane. I am an Artist, illustrator and all around Media Nerd. I love to design and create. A Bit about myself, i believe in action rather then complaining. i was raised in uMlazi which is one of those disadvantaged areas. Being Raised in the township and having the passion I had for media and at the time Comic Book Writing. I knew i wouldn’t have it easy. My parents would be able to afford my schooling in Art. So I decided to be pro active and teach myself the skill of creating something from thin air. Art.

My Creative Background? I not been blessed with the opotunity yet to study Media at a formal institution, it is someting im planning on archieving soon. I have learned my skills through practical learning from people in the feild. I’ve volonteered and for 6 months at a local NGO “ Velinjabulo” where i help teach disabled children learn to use creative ways to express themselves. in 2014 where i started focusing on building my creative career, i was part of the BAT Centre Artist in Residency Progrem where they help young artist learm ‘more about the uindustry. In 2016 i started a Music Production Studio with friends, where I helped them with Media Services That is where i fell inlove with the business side of media and started to work freelance under my own Brand. Grimson Darkhand Media, where I am Currently Based.
WHy Should you Consider me for the position above everyone else? Simply Put, Art is an Explosion and i love it when i’m the explosive. I don’t quit and I’m used to working exremely hard under very short deadlines. Love and Passion, Not to presume your views but theres a certain pleasure in knowing yourworking with someone who l loves what they do. im obsessed with Media and Design. Art, Illustration and anything related to the subject.
But still thats Not what sets me apart. I am able to work well with certain groups of people and I deliver on what is meant to be done. Reliability above all. And ive found that that create value and thats what I bring to any project. it might be ideas or simply putting in those extra 30 min to, “Get the job done”.
My Ispiration is taken from everywhere. could be a simple conversation with someone or it could be a picture. One time I found one of my best peices from a crack we had in our bathroom. I am A creative. Whichever Platform I need to use is nothhing to that core. I believe, its Not the tool but the carpenter that will make the woodwork beautiful.
I Love the work of People like H.R. Gigga or a small artist called Leo Gonzalez. But then i also enjoy a lot of manga type art and illustrations. Huge Comic Book fan and Currently working on a few graphic Novels.
I’d say my style is Township cyberpunk. I’ve always had a facination with mechines and form. my style is that with a hint of geomatric influences. Shapes are the core to everything. this is just my way to appreciate them more.
Someday I Hope to inspir e a whole new visual language for the African Art Space. Much like the simpsons, Desney and Astro Boy. Untill then. I am a student of the game and am looking to work in as many spaces in the creative Map as I can. learn from the Masters and Build all that into an Expirience for people to coonsume.
Ekse is a series of short in coherent stories designed to mock the ordinary everyday life. If follows the life of a township dwelling unemployed youth as he battles the challenges of being unemployed and building a business. Along with ridiculous hyperbola made out of the challenges personified. The story is aimed for ages 18 to 26 and bring humor with educational entertainment. The language used is vulgar but through research of similar shows, comedy shows and writings became adopted to better meet our marketing needs The story follows Ek. As he goes about his day. The story begins as he wakes up in the morning and complains about his day. This is where he thinks of a way to get some relief of the stress by going to get a smoke at the merchant’s place. On his way he gets stopped by an old friend. He offers him weed for his stress as an apology for a past debt. From the first puff he gets sucked into another dimension where he has to dance for his and his planets life. He wins the contest only to return back into the same place he had left. Falling asleep once again he awoke thinking it was only a dream. But there is a call on the phone this time. The story is designed like how a person who is high on marijuana would speak if they were telling a story high. We aim to put more content that speaks about the social ills we face min the township going forward as we refine our style and audience base. Illustrated and written by Grimson Darkhand.
