The Housing Association (HA) seeks to provide a â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;mixâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; of the following types of units distributed equally: Family of 1+ unit with one bedroom, suitable for a single adult, or a couple without children. Family of 2+ unit with two bedrooms, suitable for a couple with one child or two children of the same sex; or for two sharing adults, not living as a couple. Family 3+ units with three bedrooms, suitable for a couple with children of different sex. The HA is also aware of the need for such units to accommodate three or more adults, possibly of different generations, who may require a degree of independence from each other. Workshop/studios have direct access to the public domain and to delivery vehicle access at the ground level. the workshop can accommodate for a range of close-up light-loaded activities such as making jewellery to dirty, heavily loaded activities such as vehicle maintenance.

Urban Beach 2003

In UK The Government is overseeing a fundamental shift of power away from Westminster to councils, communities and homes across the nation. this is Localism. Bristol City Council, which is the local planning authority in Bristol has sought out students at the Univesity of the West of England to provide a public space for the idle Redcliffe Wharf site. their aim was to give local residents, national and international visitors an outdoor attraction that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. this form of development will then create a stronger sence of community through meeting peoples needs and aspirations. The project brings together an analytical approach to transforming a river front into a beach. the site is to be reconstucted into a smooth concrete finish to simulate sand. the landscape resembles a deconstucted boat dock, it gives people the freedom to ascend or descend to control views of the city. undeneath the structure a carpark is provided so visitors will not impose on the traffic around the area. over the structure three solid objects are present: a cafe, market and access to the carpark are provided.

The maltings, arguably the gateway into Salisbury, is currently an asphalt wasteland. the beeps and bustle of parking cars and supermarket carts drowns out the adjacent reed bedâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s magic. nostalgia for nature aside, previous studies have shown that the malings and central carpark has an undisputed strong presence within Salisburyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s urban fabric. what a waste. any solutions? barrage the site, and the reed beds will step into the fore. give people what they want. give people the power to actively participate. a modular structure allows for a more dynamic urban morphology. plug & play. skip public consultations. residential, office, and retail units coexist in this frame.

Reed Bed Connections Reintroducing reed beds into the maltings site aims to reinforce Salisburyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s unique natural scene as well as enriching the towns natural resources and promoting biodiversity. The reed beds will be used as a natural water treatment plant that would provide clean water for the surrounding homeses and establishments.

This document is an official planning application that can be sent to the Wiltshire County Council, which is the regional planning authority at which Salisbury is a part of and any form of development must go through them first. this is explored at different scales, from city wide to site specific and is done over three different time frames. the past refers to how things are today, morphology of the surroundings, relationships between buildings, access and uses all constitute to the present situation. the historic development of the city, the pattern of its urban development, the streets, the buildings, the people who have lived there before and the activities they have engaged in. the future of the city, where the proposed project becomes most relevant. Wiltshire County Council already have a very clear idea of the future of their city at scales from county and city wide to site specific. They express their view in a variety of planning policy documents which had to be respected. uk law requires Wiltshire Council to determine the application in accordance with their local policy framework as well as national planning policy documents.

Hotel / Beach Resort nilavelli, sri lanka 7 days Shiu-Kay Kan

This document sets out the specifications and placement of light fittings for a beach resort in Sri Lanka, it has been prepared in preparation for a site visit in September 2012 when the shipment of light fixtures arrives to the country. The Client is Anilana Properties Ltd. which is a major property development in Sri Lanka. They have appointed the local architectural firm Mano Ponniah & Associates Ltd. to provide the architectural scheme, but they have found that they had lack of experience in producing a modern, efficient, and sustainable lighting schemes and have therefore reached out to SKK lighting Consultancy in London, which is where I am working. SKK is dedicated to providing lighting solutions that highly comply with the Building Regulations Part L which deals with energy efficient lighting within the UK. The client has requested that we provide a lighting solution that is up to the highest quality of standards which adheres to the Part L document.
