1. Knowing, Sketching, Drawing In this activity we learned the basics on how to draw 3D cubes and how to draw smaller cubes inside. We also counted the amount of edges and corners a cube has. In conclusion this was a very good way to have a better perspective into how to represent ordinary shapes with a pencil and paper.
3. Form and Design In this activity we took 2 pictures of items that are the same but have different form and design and compared its functions. This activity made me realize that form and design has a lot to do with the purpose that the object gives.
3. Modeling a Cube In this activity we were going deeper in the dimensions and the amount of edges and corners that a cube have. A cube has 8 corners and 12 edges. I learned that the amount of corners and edges vary depending on how many smaller cubes you have inside the big cube
8. Case Study In this assignment me and my team investigated and architectural building which in our case was, La Tourette Monastery which was a building used by The monks. We had to analyze the form and space of The build. This activity helped me visualize better how to Identify addition, subtraction and dimension manipulation.
Challenge 1: Bruno Munari In this Activity we reviewed the thought process in identification of a problem of Bruno Munari. This was something very new to me. I never thought this much thinking and this many steps could go behind architecture. I learned that for everything you, theres a series of steps that have to be well established before coming about to elaborate a build.
Modeling a Cube 4 corners In this activity we elaborated a powerpoint to analyze the different views and perspectives of a cube that we made with clay. We identified the the front view, side view and top view.
I now know how to identify the different sides of the cube when im sketching
Brainstorming Shelter This was the first introduction to the shelter that I elaborated with my teammate, we thought of many different things, including the main idea which was a gazebo. Afterwards we started brainstorming and making rough sketches of the design that we wanted to accomplish. I never brainstormed ideas before I started working on something, now I know that gather ing all the thoughts possible is crucial for a better project development.
Architectural Drawings For a nearpod activity we made a rough sketch in the representation of our room. This was a completely new thing for me, when I thought about developing my room I never thought it would look like this. I learned a lot in this class, I didn't know that architects used this technique to represent space and rooms in builds.
Material Proposal My teammate and me did a lot of research in the prices of the materials that our shelter will need. The price that we came up with in this assignment is very different to the total that we had in our final delivery. I can conclude that is good to start thinking about the prices that we are gonna face before hand, but they can vary a lot along the way.
Live Home 3D For this activity we actually recreated our room with livehome3D. We had to represent our room with this program. This was a very interesting experience, i've never used a program in my life si at the beginning it was very hard to follow. After a few hours of working I manage to elaborate a very accurate representation of my room.
A theory of light and shade This was probably the most fun activity that I elaborated in this class. Eventhough Im an engineer, I always like drawing things in my free time. I learned how to draw shapes and add shading depending in where the light came from. Drawing with shading is a completely different thing, it brings sketches to live and its very beautiful to be able to create this miracles in a paper.
Cardboard Cube This was also a very fun activity it was one of the hardest to complete for sure. I attempted like 3 different times to make it and i failed. At the end i manage to do the cube and Im very proud that I made all of my corner as well. I learned that something so simple can take a lot of hours to develop. It gives me a whole new perspective in models.
First delivery of shelter In this part we already had the main construction of our shelter, it looks very dark and without much decoration but it was a huge step for our project. It was very cool to see that the sketches that we develop came to life. It motivated us to keep working and give the best shelter we could deliver.
My slotted Sculpture To be honest, I didn't know what I was doing. I just made random slammers and at the end of building i realized that it looked like a dog! So I made one last slammer for the tail and this was my masterpiece. I learned that when being creative, you can start with nothing and end up having something awesome. Im very proud of this sculpture.
