CHAPTER 1
Hai-Hua Building Interior Design
Design Concept The project is community club for elderly, middle-aged and young people. This is the living room area which has Nordic pure colour scheme. The front wall is clean with a geometric pattern on dolomite-marble. It has a dark coloured lightweight settee that is easily moveable and allowsinteraction among people. There is a TV unit for recreation. Polished quartz tiles are used for flooring that are 12mm in thickness and beige in colour. The ceiling is rendered with calcium silicate board as it is water and fire resistant and easy to install.

Design Concept The reception area welcomes guests to the clinic. It includes check-in and check-out desk for easy circulation and to prevent delays. At the rear of the reception area is the waiting room and consultation room. A custom-curved sculpture leads guests to a seat where they can relax while waiting for their appointment. Once there, patients can refer to a map to locate their destination. From there, custom LED skylights illuminate the hallway, guiding patients to their intended zone. The open office features acoustic baffles to trap noise, individual private desks and perforated metal room signs. These signs help locate each clinical room and are back lit with LEDs, indicating its zone within the clinic. Exam room flags and a file organizer are included on each sign. Within this open office, providers can prepare for appointments and hold group meetings. Each examination room includes an abundance of storage to eliminate clutter and reduce visible medical equipment and preventing ‘white coat anxiety’. Supportive diagnostic equipment and electric examination tables are also included to support efficient examination. In addition, sinks are located adjacent to the provider entry, encouraging a hygienic environment

CHAPTER 4
Welcome room
Design concept Haihua is a domestic commercial real estate and construction management firm headquartered in Taipei with offices throughout the country. They recently expanded to a new location in Taoyuan. The new space reflects their overall company brand and culture and draws inspiration from the local region by focusing on the culture and walkability of the community, which we also call ‘Aviation City’. Most existing circulation in the city runs orthogonally, however in Haihua district where the welcome room is located, the circulation pattern shifts diagonally. This establishes a connection and its significance as the heart of the city. Graphic design mimics the contrasting grid lines of the city. With a bar counter at the centre, a multifunction zone surrounds the shift in circulation and establishes a visual and implied connection among elements of the space, promoting collaboration and interaction. The interactive culture of the city is expressed in the interior of the Haihua welcome room. This is achieved by incorporating materials and finishes that speak to the locals, bringing feelings of warmth, familiarity and security

CHAPTER 5 Homestay
Design concept A homestay located at the border of the city centre and a redeployed area. A crowded old urban area is at the front with an airport MRT station and the new town rezoning area to the rear. The basic design concept was to try to reverse transportation convenience and future possibilities for old towns dominated by blue-collar residents and create new towns. The location is a multi-ethnic city, inhabited by migrants from Southeast Asia. Residents who originally lived in this city were mainly blue-collar workers in light or traditional industries. The idea of the design is to try to smooth out unfamiliarity between different ethnic groups and embellish an industry-oriented atmosphere with a clear design sense and create the possibility of linking old and new cities. Part of the exterior wall adopts a low-key and stable colour (dark-coloured marble) and is matched with the unique construction methods of the southern Fujian area. This is in order to withstand the external wall dirt caused by the relatively humid and cold weather in the city where the case is located. The interior uses polished quartz tiles and pays attention to ceiling height to create an open atmosphere. Part of the front balcony is wide to embrace the warmth of the old city. The design of air-tight windows on the back balcony overlooks the prototype future town and pays attention to lighting and ventilation.
