You might even say we’re “quietly” revolutionizing the industry. Effective immediately, all KraftMaid and Venicia cabinet drawers* will come with the Ultimate Drawer Runner System, STANDARD. Smooth-action, fullextension glides with the self-closing, Easy Touch™ drawer buffer is the system of choice for today’s consumers, and now this luxury comes standard from KraftMaid. Leading our new product introduction this year are 13 beautiful new finishes on the forefront of today’s design trends. Many of our new finishes are achieved through two innovative new finish processes that demonstrate the furniture look and quality in KraftMaid cabinetry. In addition to these new finishes, you’ll notice a new naming convention for all of our finishes, reclassifying each by base color and enhancement process. This improvement is designed to help you better communicate with your customers; helping them to select the finish features that best reflect their personal taste. Our 2008 launch also features 37 beautiful door styles, ranging in style from classic elegance, to casual cottage, to upscale rustic, to clean simplicity. These doors and finishes are complemented by five new molding collections, all designed to make the selection process easier for your customer and the design process easier for you. New Finish Names & Categories This year, KraftMaid introduces two new finish treatments, demonstrating the evolution of cabinetry furniture finishes for today and tomorrow. To help you better communicate the wide breadth of offerings in the KraftMaid finish palette, we’ve grouped our finishes into categories by the eight unique treatments we apply to wood to create individual finishes that apply to today’s designs. Additionally, you will see that many of our finishes have been renamed to enhance consumer understanding of base tone color and the enhancement treatment applied to create the end result.

Stained Finishes Stained finishes truly showcase the natural beauty and characteristics inherent in each individual wood species. Based on the stain color chosen, a toner may be applied to the wood to equalize natural sap levels. The stain color is applied and hand rubbed to ensure full and equal color coverage for doors and drawer fronts. The final step is the application of sealer and DuraKraftâ&#x201E;˘ top coat. This top coat is oven cured and hand sanded between coats to ensure a beautiful, durable and long-lasting finish.

Highlighted Finishes Highlighted finishes feature a standard stain that is “highlighted” with hand applied glaze color in the recessed areas of doors and drawer fronts. This unique process does not alter the base color of the door, yet adds an additional highlight color to enhance the profiles and recesses of the door design. Following the addition of a highlight glaze, our DuraKraft top coat is applied, oven cured and hand sanded between coats to ensure a beautiful, durable and long-lasting finish.

Antique Glazed Finishes Antique Glazed finishes combine several techniques to create beautiful cabinetry with an heirloom look. This finish process begins with factory-applied distressing and over sanding on the unfinished door or drawer front. We then apply the base finish color followed by a glazing flood coat that is hand wiped to create a soft, light glaze “hang-up” in corners and profile recesses. Next, a glaze color highlight is handapplied to detail the recesses of each door and drawer design. Because this process features distressing, glazing and highlighting, the detail and look will vary from piece to piece. Each door design, wood species and glaze finish have its own charming character and will create a unique, one-of-a-kind look. Oven-cured DuraKraft top coat provides the final step for a beautiful furniture finish.

Burnished Finishes Burnished finishes create a unique, furniture quality and warm traditional look, resulting in simply beautiful cabinetry. This process begins with factory-applied distressing and over-sanding on unfinished doors and drawer fronts. Next, a dark burnishing stain is artistically applied to all raised or profiled areas of doors and drawer fronts. The burnishing stain is followed by a base color stain, which is then hand wiped to reveal the beauty and inherent natural characteristics of maple and cherry woods. Burnished finishes are completed with our oven-cured DuraKraft top coat for the final touch and to ensure durability of these beautiful finishes.

Painted Finishes Painted finishes feature several coats of a heavily pigmented stain using an automated application process. These finishes are semi-opaque, meaning some of the natural beauty of the wood grain may show through the painted stain. The natural characteristics of wood create a constant state of expansion and contraction in every door and drawer front, resulting in continual expansion and contraction of joint lines. In all painted finishes, it is normal for these joint lines to show and is part of the inherent beauty of these finishes on natural wood. This expansion does not weaken the finish or the strength of the joint. Painted finishes are completed with our oven-cured DuraKraft top coat for the final touch and to ensure durability of these beautiful finishes.

Vintage Finishes Vintage finishes create beautiful, furniture-quality heirloom cabinetry. This multi-step process begins with factory-applied distressing and over-sanding on the corners and edges of the unfinished doors and drawer fronts. Next, several coats of a semi-opaque painted finish are applied. The corners and edges of doors and drawers are over-sanded for a second time; revealing the beauty of the natural cherry wood. Vintage finishes are completed with our oven-cured DuraKraft top coat for the final touch and to ensure durability of these beautiful finishes.

Thermofoil Thermofoil doors are available in two colors, a fresh, clean white or new soft cream. These doors are created by pressing MDF with a high-quality, satin texture foil. Foil is applied through an intense heat and pressure process to ensure durable adhesion and a clean, satin surface. Cabinets feature solid wood face frames finished to match the door color and completed with our DuraKraft top coat.
