sited in the foothills of the appalachian mountains in southern ohio, this single family residence floats over the incredible nature with commanding views of the mary crosset memorial farm.

the intent was to designed an extremely restrained home both in scale and cost, that intimately embraces the surrounding landscape. the diagram is quite simple, a single mass clad in local wood supports the pitched roof that overhangs over the whole project. a circulation spine defines the progression of the different spaces, from private rooms to public and social living spaces, creating a highly efficient plan.

the surrounding deck provides an inviting shaded exterior space for both public and private rooms. with the walls retracted from the edge of roof and deck, the home takes on the character of two horizontal lines that quietly embrace the stunning natural context, while providing the homeowners an environment that blurs the line between interior and exterior.
