Safety Awareness Night

Stitch the stress away in this introductory course! Participants will learn the basics of stitching layers of fabric together. Hand and machine techniques will be used.

Keep on sewing! Participants will build upon the basic skills from the intro class in order to further expand their knowledge and techniques of sewing. A greater emphasis will be placed on the use of sewing machines.

Be Aware; Take Care! Join us at the Adult Center to learn helpful information on how to increase awareness and ensure safety. Chaves County Sheriff Mike Herrington will be speaking to the community for Safety Awareness Month.

Scrap booking is about the scraps of life – yours and those special to you! In this course, participants will learn different techniques that surround the art of scrap booking. All supplies are provided and participants will end the class with 6 unique pages for their individual books.

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. In this course, participants will learn the techniques that are involved with creating pieces of art using colored glass. All supplies are provided and participants will finish the session with a completed project that can be shared with the entire family.

Events Aqua Egg Hunt

Free Swim

The Easter Bunny invites you to suit up and splash around the pool as you hunt for toy-filled eggs! In addition with the egg hunt, admission includes a swim pass for the day, a springthemed craft activity and a special treat. A mesh bag will be provided to collect eggs during the hunt. Don’t forget your camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny and bring your Easter basket to carry your eggs home.

Calling all kids! Come kick off the first camp of the summer with us! We will be exploring the oceans, rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds while learning about all the exciting things that live in them.

Come to the celebration of the summer! We will be having a birthday party for America’s 246th Birthday! Kids will be participating in all things American from baseball, bingo, squirt gun activities, weaving and swimming!

Let your imagination run wild during this camp. We will be making dragons, unicorns, mermaids, pirates, dinosaurs, princesses, and superheroes, etc. On Friday, we will host an open house with carnival games set up for parents and children starting at 5:00 p.m.

Kids will learn the basics of sports including volleyball, soccer, baseball, kickball, basketball, dancing, exercising. We will also play ping pong, badminton, pool noodle hockey. We can’t leave out swimming at the pool!

Mad Scientist Camp June 20 – June 24, 2022 Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Ages 5-12 | $45+tax

This camp is designed to be fun, challenging, all while exploring all things science. Participate in an escape room, obstacle courses, making a solar oven and using it. Learn how to make and use a sundial and scissor jaws. We will also be building lots of creations out of LEGOS and having a contest with straw airplanes. We will give those brains a break with time spent catching some sun at the pool.

Your little artist will enjoy all things artsy and crafty in this camp. The activities are endless from biplanes, kaleidoscopes, pom pom wreaths, card making, painting, drawing, and pipe cleaner animals. The activities are endless!

Camp Wilder

July 18 – July 22, 2022 Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Ages 5-12 | $45+tax

Let your children explore the great outdoors this summer. We will be learning about nature and the world around us through nature walks and scavenger hunts, painting with wilderness handmade paint brushes, making 3D bugs, flying birds, planting seeds, and a trip to Spring River Zoo!

July 25 – July 28, 2022

This 4-day camp will allow the local youth who are interested in Lifeguarding, a chance to experience a day in the life of a Certified Lifeguard. They will go through a modified lifeguarding course beginning with a Swim Assessment Test. If they successfully meet the requirements of the swim test, they move on to learn basic lifeguarding skills along with Water Safety. The curriculum will consist of: • • • • • • •

How to recognize a distressed swimmer How to rescue a distressed swimmer How to perform CPR and use an AED How to help someone who is choking Basic First Aid How to work as a team How to be calm and provide assistance in an emergency situation

The last day of the course they will shadow a Certified Lifeguard during the day time shift. At the end of the course they will receive a Certification in Basic First Aid, CPR and AED.

Aerobics

Water Aerobics

Are you tired of exercising in your living room? Our live instruction combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines.

Looking for a low-impact exercise in the water? Water aerobics is the place for you! This type of exercise is similar to a normal aerobics class, but the water helps lower strain on your joints.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

HIIT

Second and Fourth Wednesday 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. High intensity interval training sessions. This type of training involves repeated bouts of high intensity effort, followed by various recovery times.

Kettle Bell Fridays 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Swing your way to our live kettle bell class. This high-intensity ballistic workout can help you meet your toughest fitness goals. It combines functional, compound exercises such as the swing, the clean and the press to work multiple muscle groups.

Water HIIT

First and Third Wednesday 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Ready to take high intensity training to the next level? This program combines traditional workouts with workouts that are specifically designed for water.

Water Pilates Tuesdays, Thursdays 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Splash into action with water pilates! This exercise places an emphasis on developing a strong core, through exercises that focus on precision and accuracy. All abilities welcome.

It’s a bird…It’s a plane…No, IT’S THE SUPER KIDS TRIATHLON! This fun-filled event allows youth to showcase their athletic ability in a unique environment. Swim, Bike & Run to the finish line.

2022 Alien Chase July 2, 2022 Debremond Stadium Race Starts at 7 a.m. All Ages | $40+tax

Have you ever seen an alien? This may be your chance. Walk or run this 5K course and let us know if you spot a UFO. We believe; but do you? Alienthemed costumes are encouraged! All participants will receive a race day t-shirt.

Mother/Son Kickball Tournament

May 28, 2022 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Boys Ages 5-12 | $9+tax, $159+tax (team) Who says moms can’t hangout with their sons? All mothers and sons are welcome to play in the 2022 Mother/Son Kickball Tournament. Register as individuals or as a team. Team sizes will be between 10-18. Teams are responsible for providing their own uniform.

Open Studio sessions are for adult students who have previously had a Roswell Museum ceramics class.

Throwing on the Wheel

Rocket Camp

Learn to throw pots on the wheel and glaze your creations with instructor Aria Finch. Students must have taken the hand-building class prior. It’s messy fun! All supplies included.

Design, build and fly your very own model rocket. Join Planetarium Coordinator Jeremy Howe on a STEAM adventure you won’t soon forget. Students will view informative shows in the planetarium, tour Robert H. Goddard’s workshop and build their rockets to launch on the final day.

The ART of the Story

Table Top Games Day

Gentle yoga moves slowly and mindfully, allowing you to move safely into a variety of standing, seated, and supine poses, calming the mind and body. Join 200hour certified yoga instructor Alice Buck for this alllevels gentle yoga class in the museum’s galleries.

Join local game designer Matt Bromley for a fun afternoon playing board games. Game offerings vary each month, and one table is devoted to DnD. Participants are welcome to bring their own games to share.

Planetarium Monthly Screenings

Goddard Planetarium is home to a state-of-the-art, full-dome digital theater, bringing the captivating story of our cosmic origins to life! UFO Festival Events Future Shock: (Re)Visions of Tomorrow

Exhibition Dates: June 25 – October 30 Happy Hour and Screening of “A Machine to Live in,” Friday, July 1, starting at 5 p.m. A contemporary art exhibition that explores technology, science and humanity’s place within through video, sculpture, photography, performance and virtual reality.

Camp for teenagers designed to study what type of research goes on at zoos! A week-long camp that will focus on animal welfare and behavior. There is also the opportunity for participants to customize what they wish to discuss.
