about
* * * * * This book is a reivew of 2016. Its purpose is to create a visual exploration of the changes that occurred in my surroundings, friends, relationships, habbits, and mental state, over the course of 2016, through the use of photographs, typography, and news stories. It was created out of a need to document the events of the past year in a tangible, archival, medium that could be sat and reflected with. The content of this book has intentionally been left vague in order to facilitate neutral relfection. The Format: Each month begins with a lable and an important news story from the corresponding month. The news story is type set in Wingdings, to serve as a visual representation of the story. A legible copy of each artilce can be found online. Following the news story, a series of captionless photos taken during that month. The styles of these photos range from landscapes, to portraits, to candids, and the subjects vary from photo to photo. Throughout the book are two page spreads of a continuous gradient, these pages represent different mental episodes that occured durring that month, the length of the episode, and the severity of each episode. This book will mean more to me than it does to you, but I hope you think it’s nice to look at.
