President ’s Message Welcome to the 2014 AAF Pensacola American Advertising Awards! Tonight would not have been possible without our incredible ADDY Entry Chair, Annina Dahlstrom and ADDY Gala Chair, Lindsey Braxton Shook. They both went above and beyond to make this evening exceptional. The quality of this year’s entries was impeccable. Our panel of judges faced extremely difficult decisions as they reviewed each one the entries. They repeatedly remarked at the impressive displays of advertising mastery demonstrated in every category. A highlight of this year’s American Advertising Awards was our new student judging process. We solicited a few of Pensacola’s creative directors and designers to judge the student entries, in an effort to introduce the students’ work to the local industry. I was inspired by the amount of talent shown from our future industry leaders, and the dedication and support our judges gave to the integrity of their work. Finally, I am thrilled to present Mona Amodeo with the Silver Medal Award this evening. This award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. I could not think of a better person to honor this year. I would like to thank each and every one of you for all of the hard work, dedication and hours of volunteer time you have given to our community, the advertising industry and AAF Pensacola. I can’t begin to list every one of you who has made this year absolutely incredible, but I sincerely thank you. Thank you. Megan Prawdzik Gonzalez President, AAF Pensacola

Helvetica began it s life as Neue Haas Grotesk in 1957 (Grotesk was a modernization of Akzidenz Grotesk from 1898). The use is phenomenal and widespread t hat it can be seen just about anywhere you look. How did such a simplist ic alphabet get so big? Mona A. Amodeo Ph.D Founder/President idgroup

People who work with Mona become accustomed to hearing the phrases “Trust the process” and “The answers are in the room.” These mantras define her business philosophy and the Branding from the Core® process she developed to engage diverse stakeholders through the integration of change management and branding. Mona began her career in the communications field as an international documentarian and broadcast journalism instructor at the University of West Florida. She left her position at UWF in 1989 to launch a creative agency, but ultimately found a deeper interest in creating connections between what organizations do and what they say. This shift in focus transformed idgroup’s mission toward a new discipline: Whole Systems Branding—a term coined by idgroup to define brand reputations built by aligning an organization’s identity, culture and image. As the President of idgroup she leads a team of professionals who work in complex settings to help clients define, live and communicate authentic brand stories. Mona holds a Ph.D. in Organization Development and Change and a MA in Communication Arts. She has presented at conferences throughout the United States and has been published in numerous journals and books. Her research on sustainability pioneer, Interface, Inc. (IFSIA) and its founder, Ray Anderson, was featured in the award-winning documentary film So Right, So Smart. She and the idgroup team have been honored with numerous awards and recognitions, including the prestigious 2011 Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil, a Fourth District American Advertising Federation Charlie Award and numerous other national and regional recognitions for outstanding creative and communication campaigns. Mona is a member of Benedictine University Center for Values-Driven Leadership Advisory Board, Impact 100 and founding member of Think Beyond, a positive change initiative focused on building a sustainable Pensacola. She formerly served on the boards of Santa Rosa County and Pensacola Bay Area Economic Development groups. Through the idgroup Brand on Us program she contributes her talents to building brands for small, local not-for- profits that are making a difference in the Pensacola Bay Area community. Mona lives in Gulf Breeze, Florida with her husband Ken Ellzey, Sr. and her four-legged best friend, Beau.
