INTRODUCTION Key competences for lifelong learning* Lifelong learning has become a necessity for all citizens. We need to develop our skills and competences throughout our lives, not only for our personal fulfillment and our ability to actively engage with the society in which we live, but for our ability to be successful in a constantly changing world of work. the Council and the European Parliament adopted, at the end of 2006, a European Framework for Key Competences for Lifelong Learning. The Framework identifies and defines, for the first time at the European level, the key competences that citizens require for their personal fulfillment, social inclusion, active citizenship and employability in our knowledge-based society.
Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship* Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, one of the seven key competences, refers to an individual’s ability to turn ideas into action. It includes creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives. This supports individuals, not only in their everyday lives at home and in society, but also in the workplace in being aware of the context of their work and being able to seize opportunities, and is a foundation for more specific skills and knowledge needed by those establishing or contributing to social or commercial activity. This should include awareness of ethical values and promote good governance.
Organizing festivals The main objective of the FestEVET partnerships project is to encourage the organization of (school) festivals as a form of non-formal and informal learning. Organizing a festival is a good opportunity to further develop your key competences. In this brochure you will find examples of good practices of the different partners who proves this. We hope that they will inspire you and convince you to use the concept of setting up a festival as a form of non-formal and informal learning, not only for yourself but for everybody who is involved in the organization.
