“The 5 Biggest Mistakes” The 5 Biggest Mistakes Brides Make When Choosing Their Wedding Photographer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mistake #1: Focusing on the Package and not the Pictures Very often brides are so focused on the items a photographer is including in the wedding package, that they miss what is most important…hiring the photographer who can capture the very best images. When your fiancé sees you for the first time When your father gives you away Your first dance It is your images that will remind you of these moments, so why focus on anything else other than hiring the very best photographer you can afford to hire? Yes. It is certainly nice to have extras like a second photographer or unlimited hours of wedding coverage or a full resolution image disk, but all of these things put together still do not guarantee that you will have outstanding images. If you want the best images, you should focus on hiring the very best photographer.
Mistake #2: Hiring an Average Photographer YOU will be a beautiful bride. There is no doubt about that. But did you know there is a BIG difference between how you will look in your wedding images if you hire an average photographer and how you will look if you hire an exceptional one? There is a BIG, BIG difference between average and exceptional. Here’s what you need to know. There are many, many average photographers and only a few exceptional ones. So you have to learn to recognize the difference. One easy way for you to get an idea of exceptional work is to take a few moments to view the work of the “world’s best wedding photographers.” When you are viewing the images, try to understand what makes them stand out. Then use this experience to help you search for your own photographer. It should only take you a few moments of viewing images before you are able to determine whether or not the images are average or exceptional. Exceptional work speaks to you. It evokes emotion and stands out from the rest. Mistake #3: Last Minute Booking

The longer you wait to book a photographer, the more likely it is that you will miss the opportunity to book the best. Photographers generally start booking their schedules anywhere from six months to two years in advance. So start your search as early as possible. Mistake #4: Price Shopping Of course you are on a budget. But don’t make the mistake of only looking at the price. I’ve seen so many brides make this mistake. They save a few hundred dollars on their wedding photography only to end up with poor quality images. Or the photographer sells them on extra items like a second photographer or an image disk. Remember, these extra items are just selling points and not the real reason you want to hire the photographer. Again, the images matter most so invest in the photographer who can capture the best. Mistake #5: Ignoring the Fine Print
“It was a big surprise to me when my photographer contacted me a week before my wedding and said she would be sending two of her assistants because she double booked…” The single most important thing you can do to protect yourself from situations like this is to make sure you read and understand the details of your wedding contract. Every photographer should have a wedding contract or agreement that covers all of the details. If there is anything that is not clear to you or not covered in the contract, ask the photographer to clarify it or to write it into the contract. If the photographer is not willing to accommodate your request, it may be time to consider hiring another photographer.
