The European hemp association unsuccessfully challenged this and presented evidence of it's long history.Because it is a novel food products must be licensed or removed from stores. Even though a license application has gone through there is still no definitive answer on its status as a food.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a "high." CBD comes in many forms, some of which are edible, others that can be smoked or used on the body’ s exterior, like a rub or cream. For example, CBD Oil is extracted mostly from the hemp plant’ s flowers and leaves. It’ s a naturally occurring chemical and is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. CBD as a treatment for various ailments — most commonly, pain and anxiety.

Hemp and CBD both come from cannabis sativa, the Cannabis plant which have a variety of uses, they have same facts which neither contains any significant amount of THC, they can't get you high! Then let us talk about what is the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil?
