Pāpāmoa Hills Regional Park/Te Rae o Pāpāmoa

Explore this 135ha park and enjoy unprecedented views from a 224m-high summit. Seven pā sites can also be found in these hills, along several undulating trails.

Go and see the guys at Hakanini Surf School. Ideal for beginners because the swell is usually smaller in Pāpāmoa than Mt Maunganui and the crowds far fewer.

Kaiate/Te Rerekawau Falls

Take the forest trail down a series of steep steps to Kaiate Falls where, in thick foliage, there’s a large, deep swimming lagoon and shaded areas for a picnic.
