Historic Pūhoi

In 1863, the Bohemians arrived to find themselves tasked with clearing solid bush, instead of the farmland they expected to settle on. The now idyllic pretty village set along the Pūhoi river.Pūhoi Historic Pub So good they brewed a beer in its honour. Established in 1879, this large, quirky historic building spills onto a large fetching lawn and beer garden.

Kayaking

Paddle along the Pūhoi River in a river kayak for 8km from the historic Pūhoi Village to the scenic Wenderholm Regional Park. Kayak hire is found on the main road leading into town.

Pūhoi Track

From Remiger Road, cross the Puhoi River by swingbridge. The 4.8km track climbs through pine forest and native bush to offer great views of the valley below.

Puhoi Valley Café & Cheese Store

This is every cheese lovers’ fantasy. Brimming with stacked camembert, cheese tastings and award-winning flavours churning behind large picture windows. The venue sits in heavenly grounds, with a café and outside terrace.
